I had to post here, since I dont think many others would understand. DS (6 - aspergers) usually makes outings very tense, he hits or throws tantrums. He is on a new med that seems to be taking the edge off him with very few side effects. I am catiously optimistic.

Today the 4 of us went to a park to ride bikes. DS is really bad on his bike, he has trouble keeping his focus on both his feet to pedal and his hands to steer. I usually get really frustrated when I try to deal with him and DD at the same time with him on the bike.

DH took DS and helped him around the loop around the park. I pushed DD on her trike (has a handle). Both kids did so well. WE stopped at a porch swing type swing and all sat there and rocked and talked. Then we put the bikes away and played on the hills. On the way home we stopped at Starbucks - DH and I got coffee, DS picked out a rice crispy treat. He sat nicely in the chair while we waited on our coffee.

It was just such a beautiful day. Awesome weather. DS in a good mood and having fun like a normal kid. DH not getting all mad at DS and me mad at him. No one looking at us like "cant you control (that kid, your temper, etc etc)". We just looked like any old normal family out on a Sunday afternoon. And people even smiled at us!
