We got our Corgi!!!

Last thursday I spent FIFTEEN HOURS in a pickup truck with MY MOTHER-IN-LAW to get DH's birthday present: an 11 week old Pembroke Welsh Corgi, who we named Ein (any anime fans out there?). He's adorable, super smart (taught himself fetch today lol "wow! if I bring this ball back, she'll throw it again!") and completely annoying (I'm a cat person lol) but DH loves him (except when he has an accident on the carpet). We're still working on housebreaking, walking on a leash (he'd never even had a collar on before we got him) and not knocking dd down or chewing on EVERYTHING. We're thinking about puppy training classes at Petsmart more for ourselves than the pup... Anyway I had to gush about the new puppy!

I'll post pictures tomorrow!

Did I mention I'm still recovering from the time spent with my MIL?
Pembrokes are SO cute. My neighbor has one. Unfortunately, he shouldn't have gotten a dog, but her brains are pretty obvious. He got her then let her poop and pee in the house for almost a month (!!) but when I found out about it and started going over during the day to crate- and housetrain her, it only took her three days to figure out both. I had a hard time praising her when she was peeing, because her legs were so short I couldn't tell if she was squatting or just standing still.
You definitely have to keep them busy, but they're great little dogs!

LOL No one warned us that it would be difficult to tell that he was peeing (especially since he doesn't leg-up like adult boy dogs) That took us a day or two to be able to really tell. It was pretty funny the second day after oneof us would take him out to potty the other would ask "did he pee?" and we'd reply "I think so but it's hard to tell" It didn't help that our grass was long

Congratulations on your new fur baby!!!! Pictures....

I'd look around and see if there are some other trainers / classes available then petsmart etc... I've heard iffy things about their trainers.

Good Luck
Enjoy
Can't find the cords for the digital camera.... I'm gonna cry now... That's what I get for moving
