I was all ready to sew up a bazillion pink diapers, as I really thought I was having a girl, only to find out at yesterday's ultrasound that ours is actually a boucing baby boy!! LOL! Oh well. Blue diapers it is.

I don't know if other ladies on here have been thru an US at 5 mo yet or not, but here was my experience.

The ultrasound itself was really uncomfortable, my lady pushed around so hard with that wand thingy that I felt a little bruised afterwards, so make sure you can come home and rest right after it's done and don't have to go back into work, ugh.

Our baby is super super wiggly, and I thought it would be hard to tell, but even I could clearly see a scrotum and penis on the US, and I can't ever tell what those things look like, lol. SO I think it's kinda rare that they can't tell baby's sex at 5 mo. It would be a bit harder to look for NO sticky out parts(girl) than sticky out parts(boy), so I can imagine it might take a minute or so longer to definatly determine a girl, but only a minute or so. I was kinda nervous about making sure I ate way beforehand etc, so baby would move around much and we could find out the gender on this one US, as I don't really think it's healthy to get too many US's during pregnancy.

Baby moved around a TON anyway, of course, hehe, but we could easily determine gender anyway. So all that worrying for nothing

Well congratulations on your baby boy!

I'm sorry your ultrasound was painful. I've never had that experience aside from one aggressive transvaginal.

Thanks for the congrats saguine_speed!! :

I had a couple ultrasounds with my other 2 kids(no US with my middle son)and none were like this one was.

But I've also been a little sensitive with this baby around my belly area. Maybe more sensitive than normal??? I dunno.
