Our second son was born on April 5th, at 1:03 am. He weighed 7lbs, 10oz and was 20 inches long.
We still don't have a name for him, but we're working on it!
He totally fooled me because I was sure I was having a girl.
My labor only lasted about 3 hours, which was great, but also breathtaking. Our midwife arrived just in time. He was born about 15 minutes after she got to our house. Her assistant got there about 10 minutes before the mw. I had started pushing spontaneously a couple of contractions before the assistant arrived and was a little nervous that dh and I would be doing it on our own. I knew I could've handled an uncomplicated birth, but didn't know what we'd do if there were any problems.
I ended up having my first waterbirth in the same tub we rented for all three births. I was so aware of birthing him. I could feel him descending and being born with each push. It was awesome. My mw really didn't need to do anything except lift him out of the water and into my arms once his body was born.
I have a 1st degree tear that I chose not to have sutured. I'm just trying to keep my legs together.
The baby is nursing like a champ. Oh, and the afterpains are brutal! I can't wait till they're gone.
I'll post a picture eventually!
