okay ladies I posted a while ago looking for some like minded mamas before we moved here,what with the move and looking for a house i have been sidetracked and completely lost my thread<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/redface.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Embarrassment"><br>
anyhoo we went into contract last night!!! we found a house in glen rock,needs some work but we definatly have a potential beautiful home,we move in a month and once we are in I would love to start connecting with some of you crunchy mamas that kindly responded to my old thread.<br>
also some of you might know where i can find a local farmers market and also i want to plan some trips like a a farm and a beach etc for the summer months,<br>

Welcome to Glen Rock. I am one town over in Fair Lawn (and I did respond on your other thread).<br><br>
We like going to Abma's Farm. They have a little petting zoo which the kids love. <a href="http://www.abmasfarm.com" target="_blank">http://www.abmasfarm.com</a>.<br><br>
I belong to Joy's Farm CSA in Paramus. This is my second year trying them. Last year I found her very heavy in the greens and the unusual. I like to try new vegetables but I had been hoping for more staples. I told her my concerns at the end of last season and she said she would make some changes so I am giving it one more try. There is another NJ mom who knows where all the farms are. I work full time and have not really investigted in depth.<br><br>
For the Beach you can head down the shore to Long Beach Island.<br><br>
I look forward to meeting you. This area needs more crunch so I am always so happy when crunchy people move here.

we are right near the 208,our rental is right on the fair lawn border,we are going to walk to the libray tomorrow morning and maybe take our sidewalk chalk to the starbucks as they lets us draw there,if you are around come join us:0)<br>

Total bummer. Tomorrow I am heading to Long Island to visit my mom. She sold my childhood home and I have to pick up some stuff. I will be around Thursday and Friday though. The kids are off from school this week.<br><br>
A friend of mine lives across the street from the Library and I know she frequents it. She is not very crunchy but we just don't talk about things like vaccines since she is a pro-vaccine pediatrician. She just had baby number 4and is enjoying her maternity leave so you may meet her around town.<br><br>
I don't know if the CSA is accepting more people. I will pm you her email address.

Join Bergen Alternative Parents at Meetup.com. We're actually going to Abma's farm as a group soon. Can't remember the exact date. Our homeschooling group is going to an herb farm on Friday. We were going to the Park Ridge library on Friday mornings but we are taking an herb class on Fridays starting next week. We are also going to start a gardening class that is taught by Fairy Una in Chestnut Ridge, just up the parkway. There are a lot of things to do around here with the kiddos.<br><br>

I've actually never been to Hand and Hoe but I've heard a lot about it. This Friday we are going to an herb farm with our homeschooling group. But I'd love to meet you at the gardening class. I'm copying the info on it. The class is held at the Children's Garden which is right across the road from Sunbridge College. Hope you can attend.<br><br>

I responded to your first post...we live right by 208 in HAwthorne..right next to Glen Rock. And we went to Hand And Hoe a few weeks ago for the first time and we loved it. Plan to go back. We had met a really nice family in Chestnut Ridge from freecyle and he suggested Hand and Hoe for lunch<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> He also said that there was a pond nearby that the kids swim in in the summer. We get veggie/fruit shares from Purple Dragon Coop-the pick up is in Ridgewood. just to chime in....<br>
Fairy Una is wonderful!<br><br>
We've been doing her classes since last Sept and we love her! She is a big kid IMO and I envy her natural ease at being silly and funny and magical while teaching the kids a thing or two at the same time.....if you like gardens and fairies and imaginary play you'll like Fairy Una....<br><br>
I want to check out the Hand & Hoe gatherings as well....but it is a trek for us from Jersey City.....I've been there though and it seems like a great place to hang out for the kids.....<br><br>
