We may be moving from CT to TN in the murfreesboro area. Do any of you live in Murfreesboro? My 4 year old son is autistic so we will be looking for new doctors (neurologists/dev.pediatricians, reg. pediatrician), new school program, etc. I am also concerned about vaccine exemptions since ds has had most of his shots and will NOT be getting anymore. My almost 6 year old will be homeschooled so I need to look into those laws as well. There is so much to research.
: Homeschooling is so easy in CT.

If any of you can tell me how you like the area or if anyone knows anything about the homeschool laws/vaccine exemptions/special needs programs I would love to hear about it.

Thanks so much!

My brother and SIL live in Murf and love it. They are very mainstream (despite my 'help' ha ha) so I couldn't rec who they go to or what they do. I do know there is a local Holistic Moms Network there and we just started one here in Knoxville and it's a GREAT way to meet other moms and get reccs on docs and such.

Vax exemptions=we have medical and religious in TN. We are claiming religious ex this year with our children (first 2 vaxed with everything, third not at all after we researched, won't be vaxing any of them anymore) and so far, not a problem at all. I will send you the links I have that might help:

www.holisticmoms.org click on 'chapters' then the state of TN then Nashville.

We homeschooled 2 years ago and it was great, lots of support groups here in Knox so I bet it's great there also. Someone who is currently homeschooling will be able to help you more than I. Great luck, it's a great state!

I know MDC user suseyblue is in the M'boro area and she homeschools. There is a fairly large homeschooling community in TN, so I don't think you'll have issues concerning that.

From a vaccination standpoint, my DD was partially vax'ed and my DS has had none. In that case, we simply "omit" the information regarding my DD's shots and have a signed, notarized letter that vaccinations are against our "spiritual beliefs." Cryptic enough to fall under the religious exemption.

M'boro traffic can be wretched. It's one of the reasons we moved away from there. I did receive my undergrad degree from MTSU, fwiw.
Out of curiosity, why M'boro? What are you seeking in a community?
