I am so used to improvising when I read story books to dd ... either because I translate into our native language, simplify the story line, intersperse questions or observations on the illustrations, or some combination of these. Today I just read the words as printed on the page. Suddenly within 5 minutes the book was over. Amazing! What a concept! It was kind of relaxing for me since I did not have to think. This is a great way to extend the life of our books since at some point for a particular book dd wont need all the translating / simplifying / q &a.
