CPF inside a prorap cover. He seemed to like it. It didn't leak--he peed.

The only thing I wasn't sure about is the dang thing seemed so bulky! I think I bought too big of CPF's for him maybe. They are regular size from diaperco. I folded it in 3rds like you're supposed to, but I also had to fold down the front so it wouldn't stick out of the cover! So poor babe had like 6 layers in the front!!

He's just turned 8 mos. but he's a little guy, 2 weeks ago I weighed him and he was 16 lbs. 12 oz. He's going to be a tall, lean guy like his dad. Do you think I should've bought smaller CPF's?

These work, but it just seems like that's WAY TOO MUCH fabric when I have to fold it down in the front too! (I chose front cause well, he's a boy) Or am I supposed to have to do that?

Anyway I like them so far.

I just discovered one other problem though---NO PAIL!! I have sposies in a covered trash can in his room.....I guess I could start throwing sposies in the kitchen trash, which isn't that far....

I think I might have a friend help me turn them into fitteds anyway. I do have a machine.........SOMEWHERE in this house!

That is so great to hear! Congratulations!
And yeah- I have prefolds from the diaper service and they are a little bulky for my dd. But sometimes its a good thing- she needs all that fabric for some of those bms!!

I remember being shocked at how bulky CDs were - but remember, disposables are superultra trim b/c of all the chemicals that make them absorbant. If you are accustomed to the trimness of sposies it'll take a bit of gettting used to. It may be that the dipes are too big, but it could just be that you aren't used to it yet. I fold the front down on my DD too...

congrats on the new dipes!

hmmm......I may have to try that..............or I might just leave it to work the way it is, extra protection in the front for any 'big pees' after all he is a boy! lol

He doesn't seem to care.

I've trimmed all of my prefolds and
'em that way! I sew'd the extra back in as a doubler at one ends..so I still get the extra absorbancy down the middle where I need it, but w/o the extra bulk.

Hmmm I could try that too. I assume I would have to sew all cut ends. it won't mess up the 'prefold' part?

My other idea was to turn them into fitteds.........but then *eventually* they won't fit.......but same if I shorten them, eventuallly they will need to be longer...and I would want fitted for wool soaker use. (I eventually want to try out a fitted and wool soaker, if I like that, I'm going to all fitteds/wool, one because it's all natural and second because I know people who knit, but I would only do this if I could talk them into knitting for me.....I can't AFFORD the ones I see on the net!)

Congrats and Welcome to the cloth diapering world

FWIW, my DD at 19lbs can still wear infant prefolds with pins. With a snappi she can wear regulars.. but I have them trimmed and/or turned into fitteds as well. She has a real shrimpy rise.. of 15", at 10 months old. For us, trimming them makes a big difference

Well, I tried folding them the other way, and it worked for one dipe but then the next time, I happened to notice (BEFORE a big pee
) that I could see the prefold had moved down in front--he seriously would've peed all out the top of the cover! So back we went to the 'old' folding method. He seems to like them and so far I'm not seeing they're any harder than sposies. I can take the bucket outside or to my washer....

I don't *own* any snappis as yet, just folding dipes and puttin them in covers. Seems to work ok for now. I can't see my ds laying still while I figure the darn things out!! I can barely velcro the thing on his butt as is! :LOL especiallly if there is a CAT in the room he COULD be chasing!
