Sorry if this is the wrong place but I thought you might be able to help me.
My youngest daughter was weaned at about 22months and that's been over a year ago.
A couple days ago I noticed a red warm area to the left of my nipple on my right breast.
The next day it was kinda raised so I massaged it a bit thinking (hopping) it was just a clogged duct...
Well today it's still red and warm (about a half dollar size area) and I can see a raised area if I look at it just right.
I massaged it and then could not feel the lump anymore and when I squeezed my nipple quite a few drops of thick clear/yellow liquid came out
:
Reminded me of that thick colostrum you get before your milk comes in...

Any ideas?

TIA!

Sounds like it definitely could be, especially if you were able to express some liquid. If it were me (and I am no expert, by any means), I'd probably keep after it today with some warm compresses, expression, and drinking lots and lots of fluids. If I still had it the following day, I'd probably give my doctor a call, just to be on the safe side.

It's probably nothing, but you need to get it checked.

My mom had that about 10 years age. While it turned out to be nothing the Dr was concerned it could be breastcancer.

Thanks ladies

When I woke this morning the lump was gone and I could not express anymore liquid from my breast
It's still just a touch sore (probably from massaging it so much
) but the redness is almost totally gone now
I'll call dr tomarrow if it's still red but the way it looks now the dr won't even be able to see it by tomarrow

Thanks so much for your help!
I was so worried cause it's been so long since I've nursed that I was sure it couldn't be a clogged duct

But with the droplets that came out last night I thought well maybe?

I was having major boob issues about 4-5 months ago. My NP at first suspected a clogged duct/mastitis and I asked if that was possible and she had said yes, absolutely. The ducts are there whether we nurse or not so there is always a possibility of mastitis. In the end it was never discovered what was going on in my case and I had an ultrasound and a mamogram which showed nothing other than really dense breast tissue, she also did a culture of the fluid coming out of my breast and it was negative for any kind of infection. She thinks the fluid (breast milk) may be related to my low thyroid which can actually cause some women to produce breast milk even if they have not delivered a baby in a really long time. I solved the problem accidentally by buying better bras, who would have known.
: Hope you're feeling better.

A friend of mine had this happen and it was hormonal. The Dr. had her keep track of her cycle and what the lump was like. Maybe you should keep track and see if the same thing happens next month at the same time in your cycle.
