I had to take fertitility meds to conceive DS who is almost 3 months old. We aren't using any form of birth control now, as I'm hoping I'll get pregnant naturally with #2. However, if I don't, I'm considering trying again with the fertility meds when DS is 1 year old. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to breastfeed while taking the meds. Will he be able to eat solely solids at this point or would I have to supplement with something? If I was going to start the meds when he was 1, when would I need to start weaning?

Personally, if I could not provide breastmilk, I would give a formula of some sort until 2 years.

You may have already checked this out, but are you sure you can't brestfeed and take the fertility meds too? Have you checked out Hale's Medications and Mother's Milk? Often docs don't know for sure so they just say 'wean'. May be worth checking out - especially since your baby will likely be taking nutrition from solids at that point, but still relying on breastmilk for the rest and the immune support.

Congrats for your baby and for exclusively breastfeeding!
