My husband was previously on Zoloft (didn't really work for him and he felt emotionally "numb") and his Dr just put him on Lexapro. Thing is, we both think he doesn't really need meds and could use non-med ways of dealing with his mild anxiety/depression like changing his diet, exercising more, and whatnot. Plus, he's been experiencing some s/e that he doesn't like.

Anyway, he's only been on it for a short time (2 weeks max), but I've been reading up on the withdrawal symptoms and they don't sound so good. He's only got three days worth left, and he wants to get off them soon and not pay for the RX (he had samples), but his Dr is out of the office today.

We're planning on calling Monday, but any advice/suggestions or experience?

TIA!

I would probably do every other day until they are gone. I can't imagine that the withdrawl will be that bad since he has not been on it for long. I, also, take Lexapro and I feel like myself again. I'll never stop taking it, they will have to pry it from my cold dead hands!

I'll see if he wants to try that, at least over the weekend till he can talk to his Dr on Monday.

I've been on Lexapro for 3 weeks, and my side effects are still tapering off a bit. I still get headaches more frequently than I used too. But that's it really.

He really shouldn't self wean.

He finally got a hold of his doctor late yesterday and the doc gave him another sample pack so he can wean off. He's supposed to take 1/2 a pill for a week, then 1/4 of a pill the next week.

We'll see if we can actually get the pills cut that small! (He's on 10mg).
