Ok, ok, I'm a couple of hours early!

Is anyone else really suggestable regarding food right now? A friend just emailed me, asking a question about Chicago-style pizza, and now I NEED a deep dish pizza. The other day, a variety of commercials created a mutant craving for Doritos, dipped in mashed potatoes. Mean old DH did not go and get them, however! (But, he did make me a bagel with cheese melted on top- I love how his mind works!)

Let's see, other things this week. I am two weeks away from being halfway done- where did the time go? My dreams still are straight out of Mad Magazine. If my dog releases fumes one more time, I'm going to put a diaper on her (not really, but SHEESH! What is she getting into? She eats the same dang dog food she's eaten for her life here with us, about five and a half months). I have the energy to clean now, and I cleaned a whole grocery bag full of old, expired medicine and lotions out of my closet today, as well as sorted out my clothing (and made a pile to send to my sister). The pesky rust on the bathtub is my arch enemy, though, and remains, no matter what I attack it with.

Eeep.. the old thread was getting pretty daunting! I wonder if it's partially my inability to control myself (or my loneliness ) from responding to everything. How narcisstic of me.

I seem to have more of an appetite the past couple days since I have made a conscious effort to actually eat on more of a schedule. Night time is still difficult though.. I just wish I was more hungry.. or that I had a personal chef, maybe then I would actually eat more. I suppose then I would need a maid to do the dishes. I am still lacking in the energy department and my house definitely shows that.

As for "fumes" lol it's my kids that are letting them fly. I have actually almost vomited because of this more than once. I threatened my oldest with a room under the stairs if he did it again next to me. Why do little boys think farting is so funny? Ok.. I'm not innocent either but at least mine don't smell like THAT! :

Monday I will be 17 weeks and all my nervousness at times seems silly until it comes back. I have definitely been feeling duckie move ALOT more than I was. Definite flutters, taps and rolling around in there at least once a day. He/she was very active last night and it really helped to ease my mind a lot. I am glad I am not the only one that is a worrier though because being around others that express the same concerns does for some reason help make it all seem ok.

Oh, great! Now I want a bagel with cheese melted on top and dh isn't home to fetch one for me! : He's off for his drill weekend today & tomorrow leaving me alone with the girl. She's only 5, so I can't leave her in the house while I run to the grocery store.

I'm definitely suggestible when it comes to food. Nothing sounds like a good idea unless someone else suggests it to me. I'm bad that way normally, but now it's really bad. Well, that's not quite true. BBQ always sounds good.

Lydia and I went to a mama clothing swap this morning. There was a table of just maternity clothes, so I came home with a nice little bag of new-to-me stuff! AND I got to get rid of 2 bags full of my old clothes that I didn't want anymore without having to figure out who to donate them to! WOOT!

We were going to go to the Zoo tomorrow, but it's supposed to rain. Instead, we're going to make pancakes for breakfast, bake some banana bread and then find some puddles to splash in. I'll talk her into taking a bath so I can get a bit more sewing done in the afternoon while we wait for Daddy to come home.

(I must be lonely to be this chatty.)

In other news ..... DH applied for a job with the DPS in Austin. He worked there after college and he still knows a bunch of people there. 10 years of working at the lab here in San Diego & continuing his education is going to ensure he'll get the job. We've weighed our options & decided that even though we'll take a pay cut (and a hit at retirement), the better Austin schools & having family nearby is more important. Having a bigger house with a low mortgage payment won't hurt either. So, I'm a little freaked out about getting our house ready to sell and then moving to a strange city in my third trimester. EEK!

The whole reason I wanted biscuits and gravy tonight was because I read about it (ok...characters were eating it) in a book tonight. Talk about the power of suggestion!

I really wish I had more of the gelato I got last night. Yum! I love Amarena gelato (black cherry with cream).

If I have the next as early as the last, I am past halfway at 18 1/2 weeks. Where did the time go???

bArb- Did you ever figure out the cover vs. diaper? I read that in some thread, but I forgot where. I think you increase by 1 cm all around, but that might be wrong.

Oh, I have a bunch of bananas that need to be made into bread. Need to do that before dinner tomorrow night because my parents are coming for dinner. My dad LOVES banana bread so I always make extra for him.

YES! (re:suggestable) ...you guys and your hard boiled eggs in the last thread! I made a huge platter of deviled eggs to bring to a potluck family get-together today, they were so good, but I only ate two, the rest disappeared fast! It was a nice gathering, my boy was the star of the show as usual, and it was nice to get the chance to talk about the new sister coming in the summer...yeah that's right, we found out last Monday that this one is a girl!!!...I could tell before the u/s tech even said it, so I'm pretty sure. Back to the potluck, someone brought a huge platter of chocolate covered strawberries, and I swear I sat down right in front of it and just kept packing them away, I didin't care what anyone was thinking, they were sooooo yummy! At least I got my fruit for the day , and just to get the rest of y'all suggestable ladies going, we had lasagne, crock pot chili, baked beans, mini pigs in a blanket, assorted pickled items and this crazy chocolate trifle thing, plus various snacks like chex mix and cheese and crackers. I was hoping someone would bring the spinach dip that is served in a bread bowl, but alas, I should have made it myself, because it wasn't there...

Monday I will be 20 weeks, meaning I am halfway there, I can't believe how fast this seems to be going by, on the one hand I want to take my time and enjoy these moments of just me and my toddler, but on the other hand I'm really looking forward to spring and some warmer weather, it has been SO cold here.

I don't post much but I keep up with the weekly threads and I thought I'd participate this time since I caught y'all so close to the beginning!

hope the rest of the weekend goes smoothly for all...

I'm going to try adding 1/4" inch around my diaper pattern. 1/2" was waaayyyy too much! Most of the advice I got was for T&T diapers, but I serge mine.

Yay, I got in early as well, maybe we just need to be more proactive about general chat and start more threads to avoid wading through, what was it, 5? 6? pages of thread?
I just love eating right now and that bagel sounds great minus the mashed potatoes (is that really what you said?!!!) But my cooker is gone and the land lady isn't replacing it until tuesday We have been living off pizza and samosas so I guess I can't complain, it's a good excuse to order out
Turns out we had a gas leak for at least a couple of weeks, I've never lived anywhere with gas before and thought it was normal. Guess we're lucky nothing really bad happened.
I know what you guys mean about the farts, Ds is farting up a storm, what am I feeding that kid?
Now I'm starting to feel bad about writing too much, if I moderate myself this thread won't be too long to approach so I'll stop now.
Oh, when I've tried them I'll add a recipe for danishes that I'v been craving but until the new cooker comes...

I don't know- I kind of like the meandering threads! It's neat to see where our minds go throughout the week. :

My house IS disgusting! I neeeeeeeed to clean today. It's almost like I need a plan to start.. it's so out of control. The boys aren't being very helpful about messes either. I feel so grumpy about it all. Anyone else feel really grumpy when their house is messy?

I cave in to food suggestions too - except for one thing - mexican food just has not sounded that good to me for this entire pregnancy - and it is one of my favorite foods! And last pg I had mexican food at least 3 times a week - I am having such a different experience this pg - makes me think it must be a boy since I feel so different...
I bought some girl scout cookies yesterday - YUM! Samoas are like crack - I swear I ate the entire box myself in a few hours... I just couldn't stop. Now I just have to figure out what to make for lunch - I am so lazy - this is when a personal chef would REALLY come in handy - too bad we can't get that approved somehow by insurance or something as a necessary expense for pregnancy.... - wouldn't that be great!
I am 18 weeks tomorrow - but if this babe comes early (last babe came at 37 weeks) that means I am almost halfway through - gosh time sure does fly.... I need to really slow down and try to enjoy these last few months...

It is super cold here still too and I am in need of some warm weather - so - speaking of that...
Any suggestions for a tropical vacation spot? - DH and I want to go someplace to get away and relax (with DD) in April - someplace warm, but not TOO expensive... anyone have a place they have gone that they loved? We are looking at the caribbean cuz the flights are not too long - we would love to do Hawaii - but the flights from MI are too long and it is too expensive...

O..M..G.. Chelsea you had to mention samoas.. Those are my absolute FAVE girl scout cookie and yes they are very much so like crack. Now I am going to walk around with a taste for those and it's not likely I will find them. I wonder if they have a website I can order from. Off to check.. of course we all know this is a procrastination from my cleaning I *am* doing today.

ETA:Nope no online purchasing.. I'll have to quit being a hermit and find them in my area.

You can't easily order girl scout cookies online, but you can call your local girl scout office and order some through them. I have SAMOAS on their way to me soon, I ordered 5 boxes from a friend's daughter.

Oh, yummy girl scout cookies. We went out to dinner last night and the restaurant had girl scouts outside selling them. We bought 10 boxes. When it comes to GS cookies, I tend to binge so they're hidden and dh gives me 2 a day.

I made that ravioli lasagna last night and it was a huge hit! My dad just came to me like a little kid asking if he could have it today for lunch. Great recipe!

Wow! I'm so glad it was such a huge hit at your house. I usually wind up having to double the recipe here because it goes over so well. I enjoy making that because it is quick and easy but tastes like I slaved over the stove all day. It's also perfect for family parties where you have to bring a dish to pass and it's relatively cheap to make.

Why did you have to mention samoas???? We have a few girl scouts in the neighborhood....

Benji and I went to church without Dh this morning (he was working to finish up a big project), and I am fairly certain that the temp dropped 20 degrees during our short stay at church. Brrr!!!! I decided that grilled cheese with tomato soup sounded really good, but we are without tomato soup. I am experimenting with what I have on hand (canned tomatoes, 2% milk, basil, butter, and a dash of sugar). I will post the recipe if it turns out ok...or if I remember what I did to it.

bArb- I think that should work for the covers. I have been serging some and tt some. I think I finally got a good small diaper, but it hasn't been tested. I ended up making fitted pockets by leaving the front open. Hopefully, that will work, and I won't have to worry about my dh getting the parts all wrong.

Mel- try to remember! I love homemade tomato soup from restaurants, especially in the summer when it's chunky and includes a little chiffonade of basil. Yum!

I have the ravioli lasagna in the oven as we speak. I can't wait to try it out!

Clara

Ok, out of the oven, and in my stomach already! Wow! That was really good. I didn't have mozzarella, but provalone worked out well.

Mmm... grilled cheese & tomato soup... I've been waiting for Lydia to be ready to go to the Zoo all morning. She wants to go even though it's cold & rainy, but she keeps getting distracted by her toys. I'm really not one to stop her when she's playing so nicely by herself. Maybe we should have some lunch before we go.

I'll have to look for that ravioli lasagna recipe. Sounds like just the thing for dinner tonight!

(I bought 3 boxes of GS cookies from some neighbor kids and dh bought some from two different people at the lab. We're going to be swimming in them once they come in!)

Tonight it looks like we'll be having an authentic greek meal. My parents don't ever get along(divorced 17 years) but they are out together as we speak to buy what they need for the meal.

My Dh was trying out the sling that a friend made us and put the cat inside to test that he was doing it right. Now the cat is asleep inside it and DH is just walking around to practice. He can't wait to get into baby wearing. And don't worry the sling will be thoroughly cleaned before the baby goes in it.
