Is it possible that no one has started this yet?

I had a productive weekend. Christmas and Hanukkah shopping for the kids in our family (cousins, nieces, nephews etc). Still a bit more to do... but we're foregoing the adult gifts this year. With a baby on the way... that sure is a relief!

DH and I went for a tour of the Hospital we'll be having the baby at. It was really nice! The only bummer (well actually, 2 bummers) there are only 2 people allowed in the labor room during delivery. So, DH, Mom and Doula WON'T work. Shucks. It made me wonder if my Mom would even make it to the birth living 3 hours away (and obviously needing a bit of time to prepare to leave and make here way here once we let her know it's time). The other is that, no children under the age of 12 are allowed to visit after the birth unless they are a sibling of the new baby. Which doesn't really bother ME so much... but DH mentioned that his sister may make a stink about it (her daughter, our niece is 3 years old). Oh well. She can bring her to meet the baby at our house, no big deal!

The other big thing over the weekend, was that I finally had a good talk with DH about the birth, and wanting it to be natural, and to do everything we can to make sure we have the support and knowledge to achieve that. He's been very tentative and indifferent about it from the start (the side note would be that the mother of his daughter had a fairly easy/short yet medicated birth... so he doesn't see why I wouldn't want to have it the same way - GAG). I was talking to him about a Doula, and what a doula is and does and he asked if it's really necessary when we have a midwife delivering the baby. I told him that I didn't feel like he supported the fact that I wanted a natural birth, and he wouldn't be able to give me the encouragement and support throughout labor so I could achieve it. I told him I wanted him to be that person, but I felt like he wasn't on board. He told me he worried about seeing me in so much pain and wondered if he'd be able to deal with that. I told him that we would learn about natural birth together and that as long as I had him by my side helping me.... I knew we could do it. Because when I have his support, I feel like I can do ANYTHING. It was a really great discussion, we were both honest and open and came away from it with a better understanding of where we need to go from here. It felt great!

The last 3 days the baby has been VERY active throughout the day. Every morning, I woke up to kicks and punches.... they're getting so much stronger!

Have a great week ladies!

Totally, herins. That way, you give her the benefit of the doubt (like, maybe you misunderstood her intention) but make it clear that the baby *won't* be sleeping separately from you!

MILs are so fricking annoying.

Not much going on here. I did feel the baby hiccup yesterday morning, which was so cute!

I was waiting on someone to start this thread
I was going to start it soon if no one else did
. Not too much to report here. I am finding that I get tired more easily when we run errands all day (like we did this weekend). My body literally starts to ache. Does anyone else get this? I told DH that I needed to go home and put my feet up and I thought it was pretty intuitive that I felt that I really NEEDED to do that! I don't think I actually put them up but I maybe sat for a little
. I find that when I stand for too long my lower abdomen just aches and when I sit too long my hips ache. Anyone else? I am feeling good though for the most part and enjoying this stage. I *think* I am to the point where I feel kicks all day - they are getting stronger every day!!

Yes to it all! I was going to mention that in my post..... but, well, my post seemed long enough.

I worked on organizing and sorting out clothes and things that needed to go to goodwill/salvation army - started at 11am - had to take a nap at 3pm - was exhausted the rest of the day and was in bed by 10:30pm. My body ached so bad, that I was cranky and almost in tears (not to mention starving) by the time we had dinner. My hips never really bother me that much... but my belly does.

Kicks stronger every day... FOR SURE. That's what keeps me trucking through the soreness!

Yes!!! I am finally feeling the kicks! The placenta is anterior, so I thought I was feeling stuff, but hadn't really been sure until this last week or so!! WOOHOO I love it, although I am having a hard time not sitting here talking to the baby every time it kicks, and since I'm at work, they might think I am talking to myself...lol

I too am feeling some aches and pains. Down low, and I thought it was still round ligament pain, who knows...it's sharper pain than I thought it should be sometimes though.

I cleaned out closets and stuff last weekend, and I was exhausted. I am cleaning out the baby's room this weekend, so that should be fun. We had been kind of using it for storage, soooo now it's time to clean out all the stuff. I was thinking my energy should be back up by now too...wonder if it's because I am older this time??? LOL

My abdomen doesn't really hurt...but my hips, dear god! They are killing me the last few days. They feel like they're on fire sometimes. Yuck. My lower back has been acting up too.

The kicks are great, tho. Sometimes they're so strong it's shocking!

Before I begin, Cost Plus (for those of you who have one) is having a 50% off all xmas everything sale!!!(until the 24th)

Yes to the back pain, the abdomen pain and the needing to put my feet up!!

We have our appt with the cardio tomorrow and my mw is going with us! Then she can determine if we can still have a hb. (IF there is even anything wrong!)

My daughter felt the baby kick last night and her eyes looked like they were going to pop out of their sockets!!! It was VERY cute.

Now that weve made the decision to NOT know the amnio results I feel like Im walking on air!! All week Ive had a huge smile on my face, Ive been showing off my stomach and looking (not shopping yet) at adorable clothes and baby stuffs. I feel like THIS feeling is the one Ive been missing the past 3 weeks with all the doc appts and nerves. THIS is how every pregnant woman should feel!!!

I better get to my errand running! Have a great week ladies!!

Lindsay - I think it's great that you chose not to get the results of the amnio after feeling pressured to go through with it. I know exactly how you've been feeling lately! It's almost difficult to explain how one could be so blissful after enduring so much stress. Good for you! I hope you continue to feel so wonderful throughout your pregnancy.

Add me to the tired and achy group. Nothing exciting going on here. DD1 has her last two week OT session so we are out of town until right before X-Mas. I need to get a few things for this babe and might look around since this will be my last trip to a city that has options and choices!

My MIL bought one and it stays at her house so we don't have to cart it around. If you want one that is really portable, the Baby Bjorn one is pretty cool!
Seriously, yay! I was afraid that maybe he and I weren't on the same page and that *he* would think I was making a big deal over nothing, so it was a huge relief when he said, "The baby should be sleeping in the room with us." I also didn't want to have to be *that* DIL already (you know, the one who goes against the grain). Don't get me wrong, I'm all about establishing appropriate boundaries when it comes to who makes decisions about my child/ children, it's just nice to know I'll have DH's help with that.

I am totally with you on the standing too long = lower abdomen aching. For me, it's like they ache and feel really tight. I don't think the tightness is my uterus contracting, but it feels like all the accessory muscles. Anyway, it's uncomfortable.

The kicks are certainly getting stronger-- DH has yet to feel one, though, as it seems our little one has an uncooperative streak. As soon as I or DH put our hands on my belly, he stops.

This is shaping up to be a busy week-- I am flying out this weekend for a wedding. I need to try and see if I have any clothes that I can wear or if I need to go buy anything. I have my 24 wk midwife appt. on Wednesday-- I can't believe I'm already at 24 weeks!

momma2be_K: I get why the hospital has a no kids under 12 who aren't siblings rule, but the only 2 people in the room is a bit strict. Having been to many a delivery (as a Pediatric team nurse), 3 seems like it would be fine and, in the case that it is too many or an emergency arises and the room is too crowded, you can always ask people to step out. Is there anyway around the rule? Like can your midwife/ OB leave an order authorizing you to have 3 people in the room?

I'm not in too much pain, although at night I get slight cramping when I sit unless I put my feet up.
My energy levels are pretty low but I think the nesting urge is starting to kick in and my body has to just tag along for this huge drive I have to clean and bake

I organized so much yesterday, and today I baked spelt yam biscuits and will start on some gingerbread people soon.
:

Anyone have a karate kicker if there are loud noises going on around you? We were at playgroup today and all the kids were ringing bells, I thought this baby was going to kick a hole through me

I know...I love shopping in Denver too...the choices are endless! But since we are broke this year, the only 'out of town' shopping I'm going to do entails driving 45 mins south down to Ft. Collins to the Joann's fabric store. We don't actually have a fabric store here in town!
: (only Walmart and Hobby Lobby and they don't count if you need something other than quilting cotton).

I'm tired too. DD#3 and DS had (what I think) was the real flu this weekend. DD#3 started Friday evening with a temp of 105F! Ahhhh! We treated her with suppositories and cool baths, but the temp would spike about every four hours or so (just in time for another suppository). Then DS got sick too, his temps were in the 104F range. He developed congestion and a cough immediately while DD#3 just developed her cough and congestion yesterday. I was sitting in the bathtub with DD#3 at 4am on Saturday morning...and that is only one bath out of the dozen we've taken this weekend.

Any reserves I had built up (since recovering from 6 weeks of bronchitis) have now been exhausted and I' back to negative sleep. Also, I'm having lots of pelvis and hip pain...where I can't lift up just one leg and sometimes my hips freeze up when I'm trying to get out of bed or just roll over in bed. I believe it's called Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction. It can be treated by a good chiro...but we don't even have a fabric store in town...so finding a chiro to treat this might be a challenge.

Well...happy week all!

Yay for my first weekly chat post! I always catch the others on the tail end...

I'm halfway through my pregnancy this week! It's kind of a relief to know that I've made it this far and I'm almost finished. I'm getting kicked pretty regularly and we're starting to develop a schedule. My DC is most active around 11pm at night and moderately active mid morning and mid afternoon. The kicks are also getting stronger, which is pretty awesome!

I go for my first prenatal appointment on the 22nd of this month. I'll get to find out what we're having FINALLY! We're hoping for a girl but I've had several dreams about my "baby boy" so I'm thinking it may be a boy...

I finally heard from Medicaid today.
: You know, a month after I applied... I'll go down to the Air Force office tomorrow and use their fax. If I can't find anyone to take me before the 22nd I'll just go and pay out of pocket. (They aren't taking Medicaid patients at that office) I'm not worried, though. I feel great and the baby kicks regularly and HARD...I mostly want to know what I'm having!

I'm NOT looking forward to my husband leaving for Air Force basic training next month...it's hard to even think about (thank you hormones).

The only pain I've really had has been due to my spreading hips. It's hard to sleep because they ache! I've also woken up a few times because of sleeping in funny positions and my growing belly.

I've also started to think that I'm not as big as other women are at this same week...I know that everyone is different, but I look at pictures and the women seem so much larger in the belly than I am. It's the only thing that causes me slight concern...

Anyway...I hope this long post was within reason!

ooooo - I hadn't thought of that! I would like to be able to have more than just 2 people coming and going.... during labor (I think). I believe that helpers can "switch" out, like if my mom needs a break and my dad wants to come in that's okay. I'll talk more about this with my MW's.....

Everyone's different. I didn't really start showing until 20 weeks, or there abouts. Even now, at almost 24 weeks, people aren't 100% sure if I'm pg or just chubby
. If you're long-waisted it'll take longer, too. And I bet a lot of the pg ladies you see who look bigger are having a second or more child...you get bigger quicker. Don't worry, you'll be plenty large soon!

scraphappy-Red
- sorry about your sick kiddos. Hope they get better and you get a rest

dawncayden - this baby likes music, and kicks and flips to that. But the weirdest thing happened the other day and I don't know if it was related. I was doing a home visit with a teenage boy who is seriously mentally ill and baby started freaking out. I had never been kicked so hard. It was weird. Could just be that she's getting stronger and it was a coincidence, but it felt odd to me.

Aww, thanks. That made me feel better. I am VERY long waisted. That probably has something to do with it.

Woah - I don't look at this post for about 12 hours and I have a lot of catching up to do! I hope everyone is enjoying their Tuesday. It's tough having long weeks in between holidays!

Last night I was laying on the couch and this little baby gave me a few good kicks! I feel him the most usually when I lay on my back and last night I had my hands lightly resting on my belly and at one point his kick startled me! It is such an amazing feeling! I'm starting to feel kicks a lot higher up too so I know my uterus is definitely a good few inches above my belly button now!

Oh - I almost forgot! I'm starting to get REALLY hungry again! Is it normal that this comes and goes in spurts? I'm guessing baby is having a growth spurt because all of a sudden I'm so hungry all the time!

If the baby wasn't constantly kicking and my hips weren't killing me, I probably would have just forgotten about being pregnant this week.

Anyone here have experience with vertigo?

Just before Halloween, our six year old son had an incident where he was spinning around (like kids do) and his eyes went all weird. Like, they were going back and forth and he couldn't stop it. I looked it up, and it's called nystagmus and is common with vertigo. I told the kid to stop spinning around and thought that was the end of it. Well, about two weeks later, he was in the pantry, getting something off a high shelf with a stool, and it happened again. The dizziness, but not the eye thing. It was VERY brief in comparison to the time before. We talked about taking him to the doc, I looked it up on the Internet and found "Benign Paroxysal Positional Vertigo," which seemed to fit all the symptoms, is caused by crystals out of whack in the inner ear and they said it usually goes away on its own. So we waited. He had one more incident about two or three weeks after that, this time with the eye thing, but again very brief.

This morning he had an "almost" one... he said he felt his "head buzzing" and he was afraid it was going to happen. (It really freaks him out - hell, it freaks me out too!) And he told us that it happened one other time at school we weren't aware of.

So, with the total being five incidents and a month and half waiting, we've decided to take him into the doc. I'm taking him to the regular doc... but I made an appt on the 22nd with a neurologist if he can't diagnose anything.

My question is... anyone have any experience with this? Does anyone know if this could be a symptom of something else? (Like, oh I don't know, wonders the paranoid, hormonal pregnant woman... a brain tumor or something else just as dire??)
