Good morning everyone! How were your Father's Day weekends?? We had such an awesome time. There was a farm tour nearby, 4 sustainable, small, organic farms had open houses and/or tours & we learned soooooo much. It was so much fun. I dreamt about dirt all night.
DH found a farm he's going to volunteer at a few times to gain more knowledge. He's about as excited as I am to get some land out in the sticks! Geeez he's my dream boy.

I'm 13 weeks today!! HELLO 2nd trimester!!!
YAY!! And WOW have I been feeling better. Twelve is a magical number, I swear. I hit 12 weeks & *poof*, my most annoying symptoms left. Good riddance!

I have a midwife appt today.

My 18 mo old is having major dental work done under general anesthesia at the hospital on Thursday.
: That is going to be one extremely scary & stressful day.
: I hate thinking about it.

I have sooooooooo much to do today! The house is a crazy-disaster, the chicken coop is NastY, the dirty laundry is taking over the house, I need to bake about a zillion loaves of bread & do some sewing plus some boring paperwork & phone calls and and and. Oh yeah, and bathe my stinky baby who got licked by goats, fell in cow poop & played with dirt clods all day yesterday.
Goats totally munched on the ends of my dreads. I'm not going to wash them though.
: haha! I like goat spit.

So, I should really get on all that!!

Right after I finish my

I'm so sorry about your little one having dental work done. I haven't taken my DD yet to the dentist. I am so scared they will say bad things. When did you take yours for the first time? Did you know he/she had problems? I'm just curious. Now you got me thinking I should probably make an appointment for her.

On a different note father day was fun. Went to church, then to Red Robins (yum yum), then home and took a long nap w/ DD. It was nice. We had a parade in town that we were going to take DD but we both slept right through it
I felt terrible. I know she would of LOVED it. DH said we looked so peaceful he didn't want to wake us.

It is really HOT today!! I went for a walk this morning earlier, and tried to beat the heat, but came back all sweaty anyway. We are suppose to get storms today then it is suppose to cool off, thank goodness.

Hope everyone had a great week

We were up at our family's cabin on puget sound this weekend. So peaceful-no cell phones or internet. Just the quiet waves on the tide going in and out and the wind genty blowing through the trees. I feel so rested and inspired now. My sister and I are planning to go back again this weekend. Nothing relaxes me more than to watch the water. It was fun to take DD and show her all the beach life-birds, starfish, crabs, shells, rocks and water. She loved it! That's such a fun part of being a mommy-getting to watch her discover new things with wonder in her eyes.

I'm 13 wks 3 days now and still m/s off and on-mostly on. I gag a lot, almost puking at different smells-meat, goat milk, poopy diapers. I can hardly change a diaper without barfing on dd. It's sorta funny. . .I'm trying to have a good attitude. We heard the tiny heartbeat of our mini bean last friday. I could listen all day. I think I'll start to feel more bonded to this baby when it starts moving more. My belly literally popped overnight in the 11th week and there's no turing back to my pre preg jeans for a while! Elastic waist and maternity pants are my only option. Sometimes I feel like this pg is dragging by but I know it will speed up in the fall with all the Holiday activities and preparations.

How is everyone else doing???

Aubrey, I'm sorry you guys are having to deal with the stress of dental work.
You guys will be in my thoughts.

Tiny, you're vacation sounds amazing. I'm really jonsing to go camping, but can't until Spetember or later. The last time we really went camping I was about 7 months along and had a blast! Came back too dehydrated but I wouldn't have changed anything about it.

We'll be doing Father's day sometime Thursday or Friday. I'm thinking about surprising DP with homemade cinnamon rolls. He so <3s them. And I still need to find some time to get DS away from DP to make him a "handpainted" card.

As for me, my FIRST appointment isn't until July 4th. I'll be 19 weeks by then. Yikes. I'm feeling kicks more often now so at least I have that going for me. We're still debating on whether or not to do an U/S. I think Matt's mom would be devistated if she had to wait to find out. I'm still holding onto the hope that it's a girl. Oh! And I finally got rid of my YI. I was going bonkers.

Do you guys have any cool plans for the week? Is anyone doing any serious shopping yet?

Susan, we actually took ds in to the dentist at 17mos because his teeth were so obviously decayed. It seems he was born with sucky enamel & his teeth just started decaying as soon as they grew in.
We've done a lot of research to learn how to attempt to prevent this in our next baby. It sucks. The dentists allllll blame it on night time nursing. Whatever. But anyway, his teeth really LOOK like they're rotting out of his head.

TinyDancer, that cabin visit sounds sooo fun!!

Have fun celebrating father's day today, BreesMama!

So. Here's the email I sent my DH after my midwife appt today:

SUBJECT: I am good breeding stock

My bloodwork was PERFECT, my blood pressure is PERFECT, my pee is PERFECT, our baby's heartbeat is PERFECT.

I just thought you should know, you chose a fine specimen for reproducing with.

(He responded with sweet things about how *I* am perfect & such.
)

Heehee. I am a dork.

Aubrey!! So the farm tour was fun?? I grew up a mile east of the one in Gales Creek. I LOVE it out there!

I had my first night of making dinner and NOT getting sick!! I'm 12w2d and am feeling so much better already!! I still get a little nauseous at times but tonight I was able to handle and look at cube steak without getting sick. Since I found out I was pregnant beef/buffalo has not agreed with me at all. I was really struggling to get enough protein since we are big meat eaters.
Glad its going back to normal, we wasted a lot of money eating out cause I couldn't cook.

My next appt is next week on Wednesday I think. I get to meet my OB. I had another one I'd used with the boys that just wasn't too keen on, then switched to a mw but she left and I was left with few options. But this OB supposedly is very hands off. I'm really hoping for that!

Aimee, the farm trip was way awesome, & we LOVED the Gales Creek place! It was actually the first one we went to, we had the official (very educational) tour, took lots of pictures, asked tons of questions, & ate delicious foods! And it was so hard to tear ourselves away that we were late to every single remaining farm on the tour!
We could've spent a whole day on each farm, it was hard "rushing" through.
But yeah, Gales Creek was great & what a beautiful area to grow up in!

Y'know, I've been veggie for 14 yrs now & haven't really ever worried about or focused on protien. Protien is really easy to get, *especially* if you eat dairy products. It's the little things I worry about sometimes (even though I've never been deficient in anything as far as I know..) like b12, calcium, DHA. AND, I learned at my fab appt today that my iron is in the high-normal range. I have awesome iron, even after so long without meat.

I love my midwife, but am really not excited by the whole atmosphere of the office/clinic/thing. There are like 4 receptionists, always a long wait, TV playing in the waiting room, Parenting magazines & even the stupid What to Expect books lying around... My last, beloved midwife in Berkeley had this cozy little house-like setting plastered in birth pictures & was just sooooo COZY. Plus of course she had Mothering magazines & AP books everywhere.

Oh sigh. Oh well. It was a trade off. I get to live in the awesomeness that is Oregon now, but don't get the world's most perfect midwife.

This is such a busy week for me!

Today I had to make up 4 hours at school. Tomorrow I do the same thing and then have class from 6-9:30pm, where we have our final.

I have to call my caseworker and make an appt to get my medicaid in order- I fell far behind on a lot of notifications I was supposed to give her and need to get things in place. I also have to pick up confirmation from the doctor of my last miscarriage.

I've got to get pictures of things we're selling up on craigslist (baby stuff we're not using, big screen tv, etc).

Get myself, Anna-Lee, and our 1 year old Rat Terrier ready to go to Oklahoma on Friday. We're going down to take care of my grandparents' graves and give the dog to my mom's cousin (thank goodness! The dog was pretty much thrown on us and never a good fit for our family).

And then next week almost as soon as we get home it's Anna-Lee's second birthday!

You're busy, Dennie! Do you ever have to fight falling asleep in class? I imagine I sure would!
Rat terriers are so cute! But they're super yappy aren't they? Does yours bark constantly? Someday I want a cute little dog. But cute little dogs seem to be yappy, & I hate yappy. lol I've got a screaming cockatiel, he's loud enough for my poor ear drums! My favorite looking little dogs are Yorkies.

Today's a gorgeous sunny day. I plan to spend most of it outside!

Speaking of dogs, we've been looking for months for one. We're trying to focus on rescued Great Danes or Mastiffs, but no one will get back to us. One lady totally went off on us because we asked a general question about how much it would cost to feed such a large dog and if the size of the dog would make other things more expensive, like vet visits. She eneded up telling us that we shouldn't adopt any dog until we were more financially secure. WTF? We said nothing about how much we made or anything like that. We've even seriously contemplated buying one, but I'd really like to give a rescue a home.

We used to have an Eclectus Parrot that loved this one techno song on a Warped Tour CD we had. She'd dance along until it got to this one part where it was like a loud rhythmic shrill. She'd try to outshrill it. Don't miss that bird (she hated me and I have the scars to prove it) but I sure miss her antics.

zjande: Rat terriers are VERY yappy. The only small dog I have experience with that wasn't yappy are dachshund, because they're hounds. They have more of a "normal" bark. I LOVE my doxies (my mom has my two upstairs, and their older brother was my first dog ever), but I not prefer bigger dogs. Our basset hound is 50lbs or so, and we got rid of a Golden Retriever mix (50lbs) last year along with her mate, a rottweiler mix (90lbs, my big sweet baby...he was the gentlest, most caring dog I've ever owned). I can't wait to get our own place and some land so we can have a big dog again!

MoonGypsy: With our 3 bigger dogs mentioned above (combined weight=190lbs) we went through a 50lbs bag of dog food every week and a half to two weeks. We filled three large food bowls each day and left an auto-feeder that had 15lbs of food in it out and available at all times. I can't believe they said that to you! I would think they'd be happy someone was trying to be responsible and know ahead of time how much to expect to budget so you can decide beforehand if this dog will work for your family! Good luck finding one- I took care of some mastiffs when I worked at the humane society and they are sweeties!

Finally heard the heartbeat yesterday! I was sooooo worried, it seems like I am one of the last on here! It was super loud and strong, I pleaded with the baby all day prior to the appt and I think that helped
My midwife also brought up the possiblity of twins
for several reasons ... so we'll see how that progresses.

We got a dog! She's a beautiful blue merle Great Dane. 12 weeks. Just absolutely goregeous. Poor thing has been kept outside her whole life and is just so nervous to be inside with us. We don't have a name yet, and I haven't taken any pictures, but I'll get them up soon.
