Hey all,

thought I'd start a new one for the new week.

how are you feeling, how was your weekend?

I'm ok this morning. Not sick right now (thank goodness!). We have to drop off our Tahoe and spend $700 on new tires for it, plus we bought a new DVD player for it since the old one broke and we have a 7 hour drive on Wednesday. BTW, I won't be on from Wednesday-Saturday, we'll be in TN for Thanksgiving. Oh the expenses of travel, yes we're the parents that let our kids watch movies on long trips. it stops the "are we there yet" comments every 20 minutes...

Good morning!

So glad you're feelig better tenk. Hope you have a nce trip to TN!

Let's see my weekend was ok. I felt a few kicks which was awesome but still feeling less than great. I'm not sure if I'm going out of town for thanksgiving weekend. Most of my family is going up north to Fresno to visit relatives. I would love to go see my grandma but there are a few things keeping me from going. I have 3 dogs and can't take them, an I doNt have a sitter for them. Second, no one in Fresno is exactly happy for me in my pregnancy so I'm not sure I want to subject myself to critisizm, rude comments and wrong assumptions. Third, these relatives have been talkin a lot of crap about me recently. And my last reason which is going to sound ridiculous, they are gonna ask if I know what I am having yet. The last like 5 generations if not more have been boys. The ones that are in the child bearing yrs are me, my brother and my cousin. My brother has been obsessed with having a little girl. (it gets weird though... He even dressed up his son once as a girl....um ya) and there has always been this kind of competition with him like who can get married first or have kids first or do whatever first which I can't stand. Well, if and when he finds out this is a girl he will seriously be so mad at me. He will literally hate me ( not that we are close anymore or anything). Isn't that he craziest thing? So yea it would be easier to stay but my grandma is geting old and we never know if our next visit is our last. Plus I'd like her to see DS and know I'm having a little girl... Ugggg idk what to do.

Hi!

Tenk, there is nothing wrong with setting the kids up with the DVD for long drives. We all set ourselves up with as much entertainment as possible for flights. Why shouldn't children be made as comfortable as possible when traveling?

OPM, yikes! Nothing like hideous family dynamics for the holidays! Good luck. It's really great that you're willing to endure all that to see your grandma (awww).

My w/e was fair. Still struggling with the nausea. If I cook it I can't eat it, which should make Thanksgiving fun - I'm doing all the cooking! Anyone else hosting "the feast"?

I've got my schedule written down so hopefully I'll manage it all. My first priority today has been to henna my hair! The lunch may be a mess, but at least I'll look cute! No idea what to wear though.

Morning, all.

I'm at work and trying to muster up the energy to be productive. It's hard. Last night was another one one of those nights where I wake up at 2:30 and stay awake for several hours until finally managing to take a nap before work. No fun at all. I've also got a lot of real, actual, career-focused work to do hanging over my head, which I can't do at my day job but which is actually far more important to me. Ah, the joys of split priorities.

We're staying in Brooklyn for Thanksgiving--a friend invited us over for Orphan Thanksgiving Potluck, so I'm making my family's cheeseball plus maybe mulling some apple cider with vanilla bean. I'm also planning on getting a lot of academic work accomplished Thursday-Sunday--we'll see how that pans out.

OPM, ugh if i were you i would NOT go. you don't need any toxic, negative energy in your life. if your fam is not going to be happy and supportive of you, i say no need to be around them. ((hugs))

tenk, have a great trip to TN! i also think there is nothing wrong with entertaining the kids on a long road trip.

Yay Mosiac, for not throwing up! I had a 6 day streak going until my husband ate kimchi the other day and I walked into the kitchen 10 minutes later and I could still smell it, had to haul to the bathroom FAST for that one. Him and his freaking kimchi!!!

I am officially in xmas season for work (I run a web retail division for the web department for a music/pop culture company). We will be insane for the next 8 weeks. I kind of like it, keeps me on my toes and I like to compete with myself over my numbers from last year.

Getting ready for thanksgiving, can't wait. It'll be 10 people at my house - my sister and BIL (who live downstairs), my daughter's dad and his wife, my sister's mother in law, and my best friend...plus of course, my two kids. My BIL takes Wednesday off, and I don't work in the office Wednesday anyway, so we spend the entire day cooking and then Thursday is just more cooking and boozing and eating (no boozing for me, sadly and obviously, as my BIL is doing some crazy cranberry infused vodka thing that sounds absolutely insanely good). I love thanksgiving, it's my favorite holiday.

Finally feeling a good second trimester feeling, aside from the random bouts of projectile vomiting. Still bone tired, but that's par for the course. Enjoying the regular little nudges now, especially.

Wahooo!! so jealous, I am 14.5 weeks and still throwing up... I guess I have a few more weeks to go! I am feeling good though, I feel like I have woken up from a 3 month stuppor!

I have been buying bits and pieces for the baby, and for some reason I have been drawen to 'cow print' - the baby has 3 x cow print blueberry nappies, and a cowprint cosytoe for the pushchair, my DH keeps joking that the baby is going to think it is a little calf!

Anyway today I was in a department store and saw the cutest little cow soft toy, and just had to buy it for the baby. The lady at the checkout commented on how cute it was and I told her about my weird draw to cowprint for the baby.... She said she wondered if it was somehow linked to a craving, and it made me realise I have the craziest milk craving, I have been drinking 2 pints of milk a day for the last few weeks!!! I just can't get enough of it, and think it is the BEST TASTING THING IN THE WORLD EVER!!! I am sure hoping that the baby likes milk as well, as my DH is allergic to dairy, and I think I will find it incredibly hard to give up for breastfeeding if the baby has an allergy to!

Rounding the corner to week 15!!!!

Haven't had any issues with nausea the last week, and have actually been preparing dinner up to the day my hip went out on me. Thank heavens for the crockpot, because that 10 minutes of throwing things in means my family can actually have a great dinner even though I'm laid up in bed in PAIN.

Come to believe it is my SI joint again this pregnancy, seeing that we do NOT have any good ortho's in this town I have a bad feeling I won't be getting much relief for quite some time. I go to see the OB next monday and am praying that she listens to me that I know what it is because I've dealt with it in the past. But the pain is excruciating and left me stuck in bed last night because walking was too difficult.

But I did get up today and forced myself to the store with the boys so we're set for another 2 weeks of food. Plus I promised ds that he could cook the sides he wants for Turkey day, so he made his decision today.

A big YAY!!! to all of us who has hit this great milestone!!! So glad to not be stomach sick now if the pain would just go away!

Mosaic - congrats on getting over the m/s. I'm sure it's a huge relief.

emnic77 - I also love Thanksgiving! It's my favorite holiday as well. I totally bought WAY too big of a turkey, but don't care knowing that I'll get to eat the leftovers. So yummy!

As for me, I just past the 17-week hurdle. I can officially say my m/s is over, as I overendulged in a big burrito last night & didn't throw up. Instead I was just miserable b/c of how full I was. My belly doubled in size - half baby, half burrito. I've learned my lesson.

Other than that, I feel really great. I got to the gym today, which was fantastic. Now I'm getting ready for t-giving. My parents and grandmother are coming in on Wednesday, so we have to clean and shop. It should be nice.

Also, think I really am being forced into maternity wear. I've outgrown my "big" jeans. Currently have them fastened with a rubber band. The belly bands drive me a little nuts. I'll have to try to maternity jeans on again. Two weeks ago they were still a little big and I have to pull them up all night. I also need to get some tops. Mine are too short & I'm getting self-conscious about my belly showing when I lift my arms. It just still looks fat, and I work with high school students, so... I"m sure you get the picture.

Still waiting for the kick. Hopefully someday soon I'll feel something. I get so jealous when I read about your lo's being so active. We'll see.

Hope everyone else's week is off to a great start.

Huge step this afternoon!

The boys and I were laying in bed and I felt the fish a swimming. My stomach started to go from hard to soft as baby rolled...and so I told the boys to feel my stomach off and on and they caught it at soft and then hard. They are SUPER excited to feel what they think is the baby jumping... but I tried to explain the roll over effect...nope baby is jumping.

But it was so cool and I cannot wait for them to feel the kicks.. nudges ..and see my belly move around!

Mosaic, so glad you've gone so long without being sick mama, that's GREAT!!!

OPM, good luck at your appointment today, may you confirm girly parts once again.

I'm just hanging out, DH told me to go and buy more maternity clothes, he's tired of looking at the same 4 long sleeve maternity shirts. I'm excited about this (except for it being hard to find ones that I like). He said I look frumpy.........I'm not even that big, only round in my belly. Oh well. At least I get to go shopping!!

We're headed to DP's family's house for Thanksgiving- 6 hours in the car, whee fun! Lol! But it will be nice to be there, I'm excited about seeing the oh-so-cute nephews!

I'm right on the verge of maternity pants- especially for work. I think I'll drop by the uniform store tomorrow and try on some maternity scrubs. I've got one pair of pants that don't bug my stomach right now- which clearly isn't enough! Otherwise the Belly Band thing is still working fine for me...

DH and I spent Monday night at a beautiful rainforest lodge/yoga retreat near where we live. A friend of his was there for 2 weeks and asked us to visit for lunch or o/night. As it was 2hrs drive away we went for the night. This is where we stayed www.sanctuaryatmission.com

In other news I am now wearing maternity bras I was bursting out of my usual ones so we went shopping today. I have gone up two sizes (band and cup!).

And, speaking of containment devices, we looked at carseats today as well. Unfortunately the woman at the shop we went to did not seem to have much idea (we had done lots of research already and knew what we wanted). While we were there a young woman came in and asked about a seat for a 2y.o. and was told "Oh you'll need a booster seat for that age." Um, don't think so actually. Fortunately the customer clearly knew that was wrong as well and managed to deflect her by saying she was a nanny and would need it for children of different ages. She also said we would be wanting to turn forward facing at 6 months of age and that rear facing "wasn't very nice". I said "Well a broken neck isn't very nice either so I'm afraid the baby will just have to deal with it." We left not long after that and decided we'd buy online Both DH and I were pretty disappointed at the lack of useful information though. Can't help wondering how many people rely on that advice

Anyway, DH and I have had a nice day together and we managed to do quite a bit of housework so feeling pretty good overall.

so if you read my post in the beginning of this thread about my plans for thanksgiving weekend I think I may have made my decision. I want to go but maybe not for the whole weekend. I just dont want to be subjected to any negativity about my pregnancy. Also I dont have a dog sitter so I think Im going to head up on Thursday and then come back the next day... is that too much though? thats roughly 1000 miles of driving while prego with a toddler in only 48 hours... Should I just leave saturday morning? I dont like driving at night...
