Goodbye, April; Hello May!

I am so exhausted this AM. I think I slept pretty well last night too, so not sure what's going on. Actually, I feel drunk- I'm trying to type, and every other letter I need to fix!

Can I just tell you- I am so psyched about tomorrow it's not even funny? I took the day off from work and scheduled a prenatal massage for 1, and have a midwife appt at 3:00. I do wonder though- what do you wear to a massage? Do I need to take my clothes off? Also, the birth center (where the massage and the MW appointment both are located) is an hour away, so I won't be able to change clothes.

Alright, time to get off the computer and try some ice water, I feel weird.

Oh my gosh, it's nearly May. Only 5 weeks left of school, then SUMMERTIME!!! I'm so giddy for summer this year, must be the hormones. I'm normally a wintertime gal, so I feel strange being excited about summer. I did our May and June calendar last night (I use a dry erase calendar, and do 2 months at a time, it's almost a popcorn type event for my oldest, he loves to see what's coming up) and I can't believe how incredibly busy I'm going to be in June!!! VBS, daycamps, soccer.....: And I'll be driving my son and 2 other kids to and from these events every day of the week, which means putting FIVE KIDS into my van twice each day, 4 of which are in either boosters or five point harnesses. For daycamp, after the first day I can just let them out at the door, but for VBS they require me to sign all the kids in and out, which means taking them all out at arrival and at pickup, squeezing my pregnant self and a double stroller (MT will escape my grasp, even on a leash, if I try to use the single for Tristan and just let MT walk) through the church entryway. Am I insane? Quite possibly!!!!

Dad and I went to Babyland and ordered the double stroller I'm going to need. I wanted dark blue, and of course it was out of stock, so I had to order it. They did have coffee brown in stock, and I'm now considering calling them and just buying that one brown stroller. It's lighter in color, and I won't have to wait 4 weeks. 4 weeks seems like an eternity, and I really wanted to start walking in the mornings with MT and TR for some variety for them and some exercise for me.

Tom, my Dad and Timothy planted a huge veggie garden this weekend. I transplanted some hostas to a more shade-friendly spot on my patio, and put in dill and basil in my planter boxes. Timothy spent the weekend covered in dirt - he was either scaling a tree or zipping around on his bike. I had to scrub him 3 times in the shower to get the dirt of last night, and I nearly needed a brillo pad! He's been climbing trees barefoot, and there's no way I can get that stuff off his feet without some serious scrubbing action.

Clara most massages are done unclothed with a towel around you. I'm not sure about prenatal massages because I've never had one. Enjoy it, you deserve it!

I'm so friggin itchy this morning I feel like I want to scratch my belly off. I was reading up on PUPPs last night and I was somewhat disappointed to read that 70% of women who get it in pregnancy have a baby boy. Now I keep thinking what if it's not a girl???? It's also unusual that I have it in my fourth pregnancy and didn't really get it in my first 3. I do remember some itchiness with my first that I just attributed to stretching skin.. but who knows maybe it was PUPPs. I thought the rash was under control but now it's starting to spread from just under my belly now to the right side as well. Ugh... It's so hard NOT to scratch. :

All my massages have been sans clothes, but you can leave your panties on if that makes you more comfy. You are covered up the whole time...except for the area being massaged at the time. Make sure to carry LOTS of extra water since the massage will be releasing lots of toxins. You need to flush them out plus stay pg hydrated. Sounds marvelous!!!

I woke up to a not so bad Monday. Yea! Since we were gone most of the weekend, I don't have nearly half the work that I usually have on Monday morning. That makes me feel ready to face the world. Plus, I finished Bella's diaper bag, wet bag, and some aios this weekend. I have been putting all this waking up super early to use. I get up and sew until the boys wake up. This has really helped me make some great sewing progress. I am in such a great mood! Yea...for once. I just have a lot of planning to do today for Benji's birthday party. Don't cry...don't cry..., but my baby turns THREE this weekend.

I have also become more realistic about my sewing goals. Maternity bathing suits were on sale this weekend (don't know if they still are) so I bought one and marked it off my to-sew list. Now, I don't have to stress out before our friend's pool party this weekend.

Nic - - I'm sorry to hear about the itching misery.

Hmmm, maybe I should ask for a prenatal massage for Mother's Day!

This week - I have a cluster of appts I am just wanting to get through and have over with.

Today my oldest DD has an evaluation with psychiatric nurse practitioner to evaluate her ADHD meds.

Tomorrow I have prenatal with my OB (GTT etc).

Thursday is ultrasound to follow up on low-lying placenta.

And a week from today, follow up colposcopy.

I just want to be on the other side of all this with all being well, no bad news, etc.

Clara, enjoy the massage. I had cranial sacral therapy a few weeks ago and even though she said I didn't have to take my clothes off I took off my pants and bra to be comfortable. I almost cried the whole experience was so theraputic!
Nic, it sounds awful. I'm so sorry you're so itchy but see it as yet another sign that this pregnancy is different than the others BECAUSE it's a girl. Have you tried different kinds of cream? What is the rash like? Dry? Scaly? Maybe try some chickweed cream or calendula cream?
Mel, I'm so jealous that you have the impetus to get up early and that you have a functioning sewing machine. My sewing goals before the birth are small: I really want to make a sort of a baby sleeping bag that will be a bit like a jumper on the top but a bag on the bottom. I have a pattern and will use terry cloth as a liner and something nice outside.
So me!!! I'm almost finished my 3 week stay with my parents sans dh and I am a very particular parent as far as my parents are concerned. I always have a breakdown when I'm here because I don't get a proper break from ds without worrying that my mother will be sitting him in front of the tv or trying to corrupt him in some other way. I try to explain that there can be some spoiling, some treats but it has to be on MY terms and yet she maintains her "easier to get forgiveness than permission" attitude. I'm having serious doubts about her flying over for the birth. My being in Canada leaves Dh by himself and I'm so insanely perturbed about this. I don't want him enjoying the company of his female friends and it's so hard to say without sounding possessive. Anyways, too much, maybe I should start a new thread. Baby is really making itself present, she/he wants all the attention already! Anyone else have a marked increase in movement? Standing, sitting, anytime and all the time!

Hi all - sorry I have been MIA for a few weeks.... My grandpa passed away on April 11th (he was 94 and we had been expecting it for a while) -so I had a last minute trip to Florida to be with family and do a small ceremony celebrating his life - then we were home for 3 days and then left for our pre-planned vacation in Jamaica for a week - and just got home yesterday!
whew! It has been busy and we are glad to be home now....It is sure a different kind of "vacation" when you bring your 21 month old along...She did great - but she has no fear at all and I thought I was going to go crazy keeping her from running head first into the ocean all day :

All is well here - I feel sexy and round with my big tan belly - (i'll post photos soon) but I am soooo achy all the time now - especially my feet and lower back - and I know it doesn't help that Rosie still wants me to carry her around and hold her a lot - I feel bad telling her no - but I just can't do it anymore. She has adjusted really well to the end of nursing - I was worried that it would be traumatic since I kind of pushed it - but it has been almost a month and she occasionally says "mommy nursie hurtie" and that's it - so I am trying to enjoy the break before the new babe gets here...
Trying to catch up on all the news with y'all - I'll try to keep up and post more later...
Clara - enjoy your massage - I am going to book one for me this week too - I usually leave my undies on - I am just more comfortable that way - and especially in pregnancy with the *ahem* discharge and all....
I can't believe it is already May tomorrow - I am 29 weeks today - and if this baby comes as early as Rosie did - I only have 8 weeks to go!!!
And it blows my mind that there is a January 2008 DDC already....

Hi all! Well, my kitchen renovation is DONE!!! Dh just has to stain the cabinets again, and that's all! I'm going to post pics soon- I wish i had some before shots, maybe I'll look through some old photos, just for some idea of befores. I am almost done spring cleaning the kitchen now; got most walls washed, got on top of cabinets, took everything down, washed up, and packed for yardsale (doesn't match my new kitchen colors, so off to yardsale they go!), and got most cabinets washed. I HATE to stop in the middle of a project, but wanted to go to Home depot and target and buy my new trashcan (OMG, they are so expensive!!!) and dining room rug, etc. I'm spring cleaning in a totally new way this year, in that I'm not putting everything back and I'm not filling up a corner of a room, just b/c it's an empty corner and therefore "needs something there..." It's going to be SO much easier to clean this house when I get rid of all of the crap that I don't want (Serious declutter!!!) I feel so liberated! Oh yeah, and I think dh is letting coal stove burn out today!!! YEAH!!! No more dust!!! Spring cleaning... HERE I COME!!!

That's it for me. I love this nice weather, and as Clara said before, I am loving opening up windows and airing the sickies out of the house. Have a great week!

ETA: I got colostrum finally... YEAH!!! Now poor dc's are getting something out of me (I've been dry nursing for months). and I LOVE that they're getting my antibodies!

Thanks for the massage tips! Chelsea, when I was reading the replies, I also was thinking about my underwear, and how I'm really juicy lately, so I'd probably better leave them on!

Sorry to hear about your grandfather, but I'm glad you all got to celebrate his life together.

pillowhead~ my rash is bright red, with small bumps all over the underside of my belly. It's maybe sorta scaly but not really.. just feels different than my regular super smooth stretch marks. I find that if I scratch it I get some relief.. and then I put something cold on it (bag of frozen peas). No ointments yet aside from straight vit E oil which seems to aggravate it now and Aveeno baby soothing cream. I like the aveeno. I seemed to have a week reprieve before it spread again.. we'll see but I'm not sure another 12 weeks of this is manageable. I'm hoping it will just go away on it's own.. I may pick up some dandelion root tea and maybe some flaxseed oil but I've got to wait until Friday.

I've been going regularily 1/month now 2/month for prenatal massage..... HEAVENLY! I always keep my panties on not sure why but I do, and then she folds or hooks the sheet under the elastic band! I second take water with you and drink lots all day! and remember to take it easy for the rest of the day, no housework for you today! I always have to remind myself a dozen time that yes I feel good but no I am not doing anything, sometimes I make supper ahead of time so I don't have to cook!

Nic itching sucks!

Nic, in our home we use NEEM cream for rashes and itchys. It really helps with the itch!

Nic, maybe I'll send you some tea and flaxseed. Gotta warn ya, the tea is um....very unique. You can also take the capsules, I did all of it. Capsules, flaxseed oil in the tea and flaxseeds on my food. But it worked. Your rash sounds a lot like mine (go figure).

Oops. Knew I forgot something. I did forget to take a inside shot, but it is HUGE with TONS of inside pockets. I think it will be perfect for cd, and I am thinking of taking it up to the local diaper shop to sell.

http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/bellabag.jpg

I had a pretty good weekend. Lots of ball with the boys and running around. I did meet a girlfriend at a shop in town and picked up an outfit for my Mother's Blessing. I couldn't believe it, but with all of the cuts that are in fashion, I was able to get a junior's medium in the shirt and it has room to stretch! And, the skirt that I got is a size 10!!! I do have to unbutton it, but it isn't tight at all and I have lots of room in the rump area!
The only negative thing that happened was I almost killed dh! We agreed that he would not smoke in our house or in our vehicles. I moved his brand new car Saturday and it smelled like a bar! I was fuming pissed! He got an earful and he is not allowed in my new car w/o me! And I will never ride in his now. (funny how this is all coming from a past smoker!)

I have been going over to that flylady.net site that someone suggested last week. OMG! I am really feeling great and I am not skipping ahead, just doing the daily stuff. I'm on day 4 today (cause I skipped yesterday w/ all the laundry and weekend stuff to clean).

That's about it for me. I wanna try to get some more sewing done, but with dd awake it's not that easy!

Do you have the rash this time around too Bethany?? hehe the tea is unique.. I take that as meaning it's not the most tasty, so long as I can add some sugar I'm good. What exactly does the flaxseed do?

Mel - ohhhh love the fabric of your dipe bag - so pretty! Your work looks so skilled.

Nic and Bethany - I don't have the rash/pupps (knock wood!!), so ignore me if this is a stupid suggestion, but I do have very dry, itchy skin in general and running a humidifier 24/7 in my bedroom/office provides at least some relief. Just a thought!

Aarrrrgggghhhh..... I've had the most perfect boring pregnancy up until now! I've been having more & more B/H contractions over the last couple of days and they're really starting to bug me. I'm sure it's the stress from packing & moving getting to me. I'm taking a down day today. Couch, stupid movies, naps, lots of water. I might pick up a little bit later if I feel better.

Ugh. :
