Can you believe that it is totally possible that we have lots more babies born before the next week's thread?!

For those of us that are down to the wire (I'm 38 weeks)-- good luck and many peaceful birthing vibes!

I am so excited ya'll!! I'm going to get my first ever pedicure this morning after my chiropractor appointment!

I'm not stupid, I know it's expensive, but, I'm only pg one time for each kid, and this is probably our last one, so I'm getting it done! (It's $45 sitting fee, and I'll probably spend about $80 on pics). So, anyway, he's bitchin' about the money, and I'm like "Hey, don't even start. I NEVER say ANYTHING about you smoking (at $5/pack!!!) or going out to the bar for beer and hot wings after your softball games every wednesday, or betting on horses, fantasy football, baseball, nascar, and whatever the hell else you spend your money on!" He says that that stuff is only $5 here and there. We all know, ladies, that $5 here and there adds up quick!!! He never tells me how to spend money, but he's irritated that I'm buying pg pics. These mean ALOT to me. They really do. (and the photographer is going to take pics of me tandem nursing... how absolutely sweet is that going to be?! I asked her to think of poses that will show my big belly while they tandem nurse.- my favorite pics from my pg with ds were the ones where dd was nursing- done in Sepia, with a filter placed over the lens, so it looked so intimate and warm- very beautiful!) I finally told him that I never asked his opinion and didn't want it. All he had to do was show up to the photo shoot and pose as the father of the lump. I want the pics and I'm getting them. Period.
I can't tell you the times that he's bought things and then bitched b/c I wanted new kitchen counters, etc. I finally got him to realize that the things he spends money on (baseball cards, etc.) are his hobbies, and the kids and the house and my hobbies. Deal with it. (and the money that we both spend is comparable! He spent $250 at a baseball card auction, so I went and got cheap laminate countertops for $200 that I had been wanting for 6 years! I'm VERY frugal and hate spending money, so if I do, it's for a good price, and it's far and few times in between.)

Anyway, just wanted to vent. Thanks for listening.
This is us!!!!!! My pictures are tomorrow evening and dh asked how much it was going to cost. I told him none of his damn business... he also smokes, and he eats out every single day for lunch- sometimes buying for the other 4 or 5 guys in his office. I think that for my $75 I deserve to get these. This is my last pregnancy for sure, and I have always wanted to do this. Besides my pedicure, this is my last splurge as we are going to now have 4 kids and it's not like I can go running off to the mall shopping like I used to when there was just 1 kid, kwim?
My step-mother is a hairdresser, so I'm going to have her give me a trim. Scratch that... by golly I am going to get it done today! Ha!

I hope everyone has a blessed week!

New week!

- Yesterday we took our dog to the dog park to the "dog beach," and a bunch of people had the same idea. A visibly (and odorously) drunk middle-aged woman was there with her dog, and she screamed at it the entire time. She was trying to throw a toy at her dog in the water, but kept launching it into some obscure weeds and the poor dog had no clue where it was going. So she started picking up little stones to throw at the toy (to direct the dog with the spashes?) while sloshily telling anyone within hearing distance, "I'm not throwing them at the dog... HEY ALBERT, GET THE BALL!" DH and I found this slightly hilarious until the woman bent over to get rocks and using her ample behind, knocked our dog into the deep water. Lola's never been swimming before, and we wanted her to get on the little shallow ramp and ease herself in! She surfaced and was panicking and thrashing about, so I grabbed her by the collar from the dock and DH and I pulled her out. Obviously, she had no desire to go into the water after that.

- I had such massively swollen feet yesterday. I think I did way too much. Today's supposed to be a low-key day, but we have about 5 family members coming this weekend, and there's a ton I want to do! DH is saying he'll help me, but I'm a total control freak about what and how I want things done. This will be a good test of if I can actually do this or not.

-
to everyone with clueless DH's. I totally think you all get to claim "Late pregnancy dibs" on every single thing you want to do, and then just do it. If they don't like it, tell them the very next time they're nine months pregnant, they get to do whatever they want, no questions asked.

- Midwife appointment and then Birth Class tonight. This is going to be exhausting. I'm the only July EDD in the class; everyone else is mid-late August, and I feel like an oompah-loompah. I think tonight's topic is Birth/Labor support, and productive tips for the birth/labor support person, so hopefully DH gets a lot out of it. The class I really can't wait for is next week- the Postpartum Period: the first week after giving birth. I think I'll make it! I'll tell the baby to hold on until after that class, and then anything goes.

ETA: Okay- Who will birth the first boy in our DDC? I just added Alice Kathryn to the announcements, and it's all girls! Anyone want to wager a guess?

I haven't posted in the weekly thread before, but now that I am not working I have more time

We had a good response at our open house on Sunday- maybe someone will buy our house this week and we will move to Denver with one less worry. The movers are comming to pack the house on Wednesday. The main thing I have left to do is pack for the three and a half weeks between when they take our stuff and when it gets delivered to our apartment out there. When we went house hunting I packed up almost all the baby stuff we had at that point and left it out there with my sister- so if the little one comes before the stuff delivery we will have most of the things we need.

I missed my chiro apt last week because HR changed my last day of work and now the pains I was having are comming back, I hope they can squeze me in today. Last year for my Bday DH got me a gift cert to the spa, which I have never used. So with less than a week left on the East coast I am taking a few hours tomorrow to get papmered- a prenatal massage, mani and pedi. The last time I had either was in prep for my wedding- I am very excited because with all the moving stress I think this will relax me and because I am not a "girly" girl and can't paint my nails worth a darn even when not preg, right now I can barely get to my toe nails

MIL and FIL came for fathers day yesterday and both told me I looked like I dropped- I hope that happens long before the baby comes I am 34.5 weeks and would really like the little guy to hold out until we make it into our apartment in 3.5 weeks (or at least not start labor on the plane). Although I guess if he comes while we are in temp houseing, a hotel suite thing with a kitchen, we will have maid service- that may be a nice for the first few weeks
I am trying to look at the bright side of moving across the country at the end of the pregnancy.

Hope everyone else is having a relaxing week.

Ooo! Ooo! Ooo! Pick me! Pick me!
I had 4 hours of 8 min apart contractions Saturday night and baby boy feels so low today that I could almost just squirt him out & skip that whole conraction bit. Head down, butt in my belly button. I tell ya it's not going to be long now!

I have pregnancy photos set for Saturday morning. She was telling me on the phone that she's never been able to do them for someone this close to her due date. All of her clients have gone into labor! Hopefully I'll get some really sweet baby/big sister photos done instead.

I'm so done being pregnant. I'll be 38 weeks on Thursday. I'm pretty sure my hips have turned into rubber instead of bone. Everything is so loose and if I don't sleep in just the right position they hurt! My feet are horribly swollen. Can you get stretch marks on your feet? The skin on my left foot is really tight & painful.

OB appointment this morning and I'm supposed to meet up with a friend at the beach for the afternoon.

Wait- How did I miss that springbabes had her baby??! Congrats!!

Clara- I think you have a good point about it being good to try to let dh help you. One thing I found having a child has forced me to learn is about accepting help. It's been a hard lesson for me to learn; I either don't ask for help when I should, or get too picky about the help I am receiving. When we miscommunicate about this we generally joke that we each should have married a mind reader.

Newmommamy- yeah, for the first babe they do usually drop sooner, so I bet yours is still in for the long haul.

Pink- I'm about 38 wks as well, and while I don't expect to have this little one 'til 40 wks or after, I keep thinking about how many people could have their baby any day now! Exciting

Bingo! This is exactly what we do as well. I think part of the problem is that I grew up with a mom that had to do it all- my "father" (and I use the term loosely, as he really wasn't a father at all) did absolutely zero. My mom did all of the bills, housework, maintenance, shopping, child stuff... the list goes on and on. I never experienced a male in the house doing anything worthwhile, and when I was first married, I pretty much did everything. John would get so frustrated, and wonder where things were (like where dishes went, where the cleaning stuff was). I'm just not used to a guy doing this stuff, but I'm getting there! DH is a typical "guy" in that he doesn't notice that something needs to be done (or at least, "needs to" in my super-planning mind!) but he is more than glad to help when I ask.

Ok, Barb! I'll pick you as having the first boy to arrive! Come on, little guy! Give me a chance to use some very gender-stereotyped blue on the Birth Announcements page!

I just never know what to do when dh does something I find quite stupid.

Because if I let on to him that I feel he's 'stupid' about it, it causes problems, and if I don't than I'm creating an enabler.

Let's see, my son is over 3 and yesterday (I know, Father's Day) my dh carried Josh (with his pants down) from the downstairs bathroom up to me in the upstairs bathroom, deposits half-naked toddler on the floor and says... "mommy, Josh needs a wipe".

Now I think I gave him the death glare and pointed to the cabinet where the wipes are kept... because usually his excuse is that he doesn't 'know' where they are... (and they have been in the same place for a LONG time)... but he says. "well I don't know how to wipe him, you do a better job.'

I probably gave him another death glare and said, "you DO know how to do this and you need to just do it." But because I didn't want to subject Josh to the conversation/arguement I just made him watch me wipe him.

The really big thing last week was when I came home and Josh 'tattled' on daddy: "mommy, daddy didn't buckle my seatbelt up!".... We do only live 2 blocks from the sitter, but still, my husband KNOWS how I feel about that one...

I'm sorry for everyone whose husband is being a bit clueless. Do you suppose they're suffering from sympathetic placenta brain?

I looked down at my normally long, bony feet the other day and noticed how swollen they are. We don't wear wedding rings, so I hadn't noticed, but my hands are swollen too- they feel real stiff, and it's bothering me!

We had a church picnic this weekend, and spent the whole day outside in the lovely Florida panhandle heat and humidity. We ran a few errands, had a blowout on the interstate (whee!), and when we came home, I put my feet up after starting supper and noticed the dreaded pitting edema!
I squealed for DH to come, and after he pumped me full of ice water and ordered me into the shower, the swelling had gone down considerably, but there's still a trace of it left. I need to just be better about drinking water when I'm outside of the house. That scared me but good!

We're still packing up for the move (we've been given a date! First week of next month, the house should be ready!), and I've felt completely unmotivated to do anything. The laundry piled up, and DH had to help me with wringing/hanging yesterday. We missed church because of the tire (got home late on Saturday and everything was closed), which REALLY upsets me, because one of the other ladies at church (we now have five pregnant women, myself included) had her baby this past week! I saw the baby already, but I really wanted to see how she's doing now. *pout* You should have seen this little peanut- 6 lbs, 3 oz, 19 inches! SO tiny and precious, I was afraid to hold him, and joked that the baby I'm carrying now is probably the size of her full-term baby.

I know Junior isn't done baking yet, but I'm ready to just give birth and have my baby! Are we there yet?

I'd love to have the first boy of the DDC! Barb does sound closer, though! I had 2-5 min apart contractions for about 5 hours last night, but then nothing. I tend to do this really long, drawn-out prodromal labor thing for a month or so before the baby is actually born, and this it the third weekend on a row that I've lost a night of sleep to regular contractions.

I'm still having a hard time wrestling with the induction topic, and am wavering back and forth. It really does seem like overall the best decision for our family with this move in the way, but not at all what I wanted this birth to be. I need to to become clear on the issue by a week from Thursday, as at my appointment today, I set an induction for the 28th. I can cancel it if I decide to, but right now, I am not sure what to do. Right now, I'm hoping for this guy to come early.

bArb- I pick you, too! Come on baby boys! Does anyone else feel like we are in Vegas?

Both times, I dropped a whole month before having the baby so I think you are good!

Jessica- I can't believe he carried your son all the way upstairs just for a wipe. Hello! Isn't he a boy? Doesn't he know how to wipe a boy better than a girl (ok...mommy) would/should? Dh used to freak out when I would ask him to go potty in front of Benji. Honestly, he isn't going to have any better way to learn.

We got back from our first dr. appointment, and things are great! Bella has no signs of jaundice so my biggest fear is gone! We just had such a battle with Benji (well, he had been under the lights 24 hours a day minus 30 minute feedings for almost his whole life at this point).

Sending out good vibes to all (stay in to those that need it, get out to those that need it, and calm and soothing vibes to all).

Back from the OB. I'm all set for our trip to Disney tomorrow. I'd told dh that I'd back out if I was 3-4 cm dilated, but I'm not. NP could feel the baby's head when she checked me, so he's all set. I just need some contractions to get things going! Maybe a nice long walk at Disneyland is just the thing. DH would be so excited to have the baby be born on his birthday (Wed).

I think this is the first weekly thread I've participated in since the first trimester! The threads always get way too long before I try to jump in -- you ladies are too quick for me!

I have an ultrasound scheduled Thursday to see if I'm going to have to have a c-section. That's REALLY not the way I envisioned this pregnancy ending, but his head was in the 96th percentile for his GA at 33 weeks, same as DS1, and I had cephalopelvic disproportion and pushed for 2 hours with DS1. Plus this baby could have unforeseen complications due to his first trimester cystic hygromas. So we'll see what my OB suggests after Thursday's ultrasound.

I'm feeling great now as compared to 2 weeks ago. I feel like I've gotten a second wind. I've been having random painful contractions every day, but nothing regular since our false alarm last week. Pretty sure our babe won't be the first July DDC boy. I feel like he'll be a Cancer baby rather than a Leo, though.

DH left to go back to work (offshore for two weeks), so I'm planning to take it easy as much as possible for the next two weeks. Then on July 3 when he gets home, we're going to start doing everything in our power to get this show on the road, assuming I'm not having a scheduled c-section. DH has to leave again on July 16, and I'm not technically due until sometime around the 25th, so we're hoping for at least 10 days early! Either that or 5 days late. I think I'd prefer the 10 days early.
Are you listening, little baby?

The weather took a turn for the better, and once again I'm feeling like I could actually survive this.
Holy, what a great Father's Day! My dad is a pilot of small planes and he flew up by himself (my mother, oddly, hates to fly) just to hang out for the weekend. We had a bbq (we talked BIL into hosting if I'd buy him the meat, worked out great), and then my dad took all my nieces and nephews for airplanes rides. They were elated. Absolutely nuts! We just sat out at the little municipal airport all evening and laughed. My oldest nephew, who is sort of the "troubled" kid who never gets to do anything, got the first ride. My dad is so patient with him, entertained a million questions, flew him all around. My 23-month old niece even went with her mom. We expected her to freak out because it's so loud, but she fell asleep. A bunch of very happy little kids.
(Here they are, giving my dad a short break. I can tell my nephew is still asking him questions: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...planerides.jpg)
I did not get to go. No one could remember exactly why I shouldn't be flying this late in pregnancy, but we all just generally agreed that I shouldn't. I'm not sure I could've crawled into the backseat of the plane anyway. My dad and I try to go for an airplane ride on or around Father's Day. He took me for my first airplane ride on Father's Day of 1973, when I was about 8 weeks old. Like my niece, I slept the whole time.

I have my 36-week appointment tomorrow. Hopefully the OB will have more information on whether or not induction is a good idea. I know my bp isn't getting any better, but it's not getting worse either, so we'll see. I'm making dh go with me because I just don't remember anything anymore.

I can't believe I'm at 38 weeks! I have to say I feel the opposite of many of you. I'd be totally happy to be pregnant for at least another week or two. I'm feeling really good, we are fairly certain this is our last and I love being pregnant, and this babe is so much easier to take care of in utero. I am getting reallly excited to meet this little one, but now that I have everything all ready finally a couple of weeks to just relax would be nice! Plus, I already have one Gemini (dh) in my life, so would like to make it past the solstice. I felt a little crampiness Sunday for a short bit, but not really enough to indicate birth is upon me.

It is exciting seeing our ddc blooming with new babies! Good luck everyone.

Home from the chiropractor. I confessed to her today that I love her! I always feel so good when I come out of there!!
I also met up with a couple of girlfriends and I not only got my hair cut, but I had her wash and dry it! It always feels so much better when they do it.
As for the pedi... nobody told me that they get out little nail files...oy! That part hurt. The rest of the time I tried not to kick him in the face or pee all over the seat. I am beyond ticklish!
I also got some red rasberry leaf capsules and dropper things. Gonna start taking all that since I hate to drink any tea other than Lipton!

Kids have bible school all week.. every evening (except for my pictures tomorrow)! I can't wait to have a peaceful house for a couple of hours!! I miss school, when do they go back?!
