i didn't see a new thread, so i thought i would start one.

what's everyone been up to lately?

this weekend was spent doing lots of baby related things. we bought and picked up an arms reach bassinet from someone off of CL. so that is really our 1st big baby purchase. then sat was our 1st bradley class. and sun we went to a baptism prep class, and bough a diaper bag. so we've had a productive weekend. baby seems to be doing well, and is kicking/moving up a storm.

hope everyone is experiencing nothing but good

eta: i just noticed that i put "thready" instead of "thread" in the title. talk about pg brain. lol

HI Tippy, thanks for starting a new thread, I forgot about it completely. BTW, congrats on getting some big ticket baby items off craigslist. I think that's a wonderful place to get them. I also have an arm's reach that we LOVED with B and will use again with baby girl. What kind of diaper bag did you get? We have a red columbia one that works great and homemade wet bags to go in it.

Things are good here. Valentine's Day was great. DH made this book for me. It's a photo album really, but each page is something different about me that he loves. He made them all up, like it says ...that you grow our beautiful children, ....that your the worst cook ever, ....that your the best kisser etc. Totally romantic and sweet, and creative, and just plain lovely!!

I only got him chocolate covered cherries
and a card. we enjoyed it though.

Today we bought a couch and flat screen TV for our office/den (the adult room) and now the weather is getting bad again. We made the decision to eat better, hoping to stave off my gaining (though I wasn't eating bad to begin with) and I did grape fruit for breakfast, sandwich for lunch, salad will be dinner. Trust me, it doesn't sound filling either....I like home made taco night personally, and speg night etc. LOL and after being sick all the time, you need filling foods, but what ever, I'll live LOL.

So this week I have, and will every week, a ton of appts. Every tuesday I have an NST, every Wed I have physical therapy, and every friday I have a BPP for the next 6-7 weeks until baby girl arrives. I also have an eye Dr appt on thursday because B broke my glasses in half this morning, but luckily I needed new ones anyway and I'm sure my Rx has changed, little turkey.

B also threw a wine glass across the kitchen floor this morning and shattered it, I told DH it'll probably be the last time he leaves one in the living room. HA.

I'm not having pain today, thank goodness, last evening was bad though. But it's nothing a heating pad and some ice can't fix. Did I mention that my belly button is sticking all the way out now? It's funny because normally it's a half outtie, but not this time.

MIL called yesterday, she was trying to plan her visit to help with baby around SIL's bridal shower and wedding stuff. I gave her the expected amnio date, but I don't have an exact yet because they haven't called to set it up. I was hoping they'd call today, but maybe tomorrow.

Family is good this week too, no one is sick, that's GREAT!! and I have an ice crusher machine that I totally need right now since that's what I'm craving the most.

All done, whose next???

...I'm feeling a little stressed out/some guilt about money related to baby things. I have tried to be frugal-getting a pack and play for next to bed instead of crib/co sleeper, repainting furniture from my childhood, avoiding excess gear besides a bouncer, manual breastpump, skipping the baby bucket-but other things I'm finding myself being picky about like wanting a certain baby carrier, not the cheapest bibs, etc. So, all in all excluding cloth diapers the total for all baby stuff is looking like $1500! I'm feeling like a gross materialistic person about this. That's all. Besides that my brain is officially gone and I don't know how this semester of grad school is going to get done!! Hope everyone else is well.

i know. i love CL. yesterday we took a trip up to an outlet mall, and i got a coach db. i'm a coach addict!
so i'm really excited.

your dh's valentine to you was SO SO SO sweet! it made me tear up. dh also surprised me for v day. he got me a chocolate covered strawberry bouquet from edible arrangements. and made me bfast in bed. i totally was not expecting it. he snuck out of the house when i was asleep to pick everything up. and all i got him was a card.

for your furniture! that's exciting. and
for deciding to eat better. that's great. and
for no one being sick!!

Whale, I'm sorry your not feeling good about your investments. I really don't think anyone here is going to judge you for purchases and if they do the PHEWY on them. I would imagine I'm at the top of their list too, but I don't claim to be a minimilist and I'm sure never will be. I think you are, however, doing a GREAT job keeping it to a min!!

Tippy, I'm a coach nut too and while I don't have a coach diaper bag, I do have several of them in my closet that i break out occasionally and use. I asked MIL for a coach diaper bag but got to her too late and got a 9West bag instead, which I love just the same.

I know, the couch is so comfy too!!!

Where's everyone else at. Oh since I ate so well today, we're getting ice cream LOL, totally NOT on the eat healthy list, but who cares, if I keep it down then dang it I deserve it!!!

Started my freezer cooking Saturday. Tallied up 30 c spaghetti sauce, 8 small lasagnas (DD1 helped with those), 24 c chicken & dumplings, and 12 c ham and bean soup. Also went to the warehouse store and stocked up on a few items before our membership expires next month (we don't plan to renew).

I can't believe how close this birth is. We are planning on taking a vacation at the end of my maternity leave, so all of those preparations need to be done now too. We have several lists made up to keep us on track, but it seems as though when we cross one thing off we remember something else to add. Tomorrow I have to take the girls down to the SOS office to get all of us ID's so we can cross through Canada on our trip, plus transfer our registrations for the car and camper from GA to MI. That ought to take all morning. Yuk.

LO seems to be doing fine. He moves on a regular basis. Kept me up for a while last night with what must have been hiccups - cute, but would have preferred them during the day LOL. Next checkup not until the 26th. My OB jokingly said last time that I'm not giving him much to do - guess I'm a boring pg woman, and he's not much for intervention at least during the pg, so what can I say? My OB visits are pretty short and sweet.

Glad to hear you're all getting ready - these babes are going to be here before we know it!

I have just been busy and surrounded in chaos.
The desk busted on us a week ago and we only finally got a new one two days ago.
ds6 is having a fit with his seasonal asthma and has been down and out since last Wednesday..

This afternoon I felt the BIGGEST jab and even moaned out... then I felt her stretch again and kick again and it was on my right side inch above my belly button... I looked down and realized it was her FOOT! OMG! I was so surprised to see her foot pushing out like that when she stretched and so giddy! cannot believe I saw it so early! so cool! but so glad she flipped back around an hour later because well getting kicked in the lungs was killing me.

Have gotten nothing done baby wise....ppl keep saying "oh we need to get a shower for you done" but no plans yet...so I'm just waiting it out.

Taxes were done and we paid off a couple of things, one being the MW!!!!!!!!!!!! (here I was stressing about the decision if it was right or if we could afford it) and then bam a month later surprise we got a tax return that covers 80% of it!!!

Want to start freezer cooking more in the next week or two...need to stock up the pantry with the last of our benefits (600 bucks of food to get and we got it even after we reported dh's new job...guess this month was already keyed and they couldn't take it back...we'll take it!! wahoo!!)

There is the new ROOMBA I got dh for our anniversary (makes my life so HAPPY) and the steam mop he got me...so I can keep my nesting bug so happy.

So yes yes that's the gist of it...for now...
See less See more
You mamas sound so busy with assorted odds and ends.

We did a lot of work around the house while snowed in so my nesting bug is settled for a while.

My SPD is really really acting up right now. I"ve crumpled to the floor twice in public now b/c I get these stabbing pains that are unbearable
I go back to the chiropractor tomorrow and hope to get some relief. On top of that my nausea is back and stronger than ever so eating doesn't happen until midday and by then I am so hungry!

This baby is so active; I love it. I love to lie awake at night when we are the only two beings awake in our home and feel him move and settle. I'm so happy about this baby. Really really really excited.

DH and I will celebrate Valentine's day next weekend. He did though, on Valentine's morning, enumerate all the reasons he loves me which is so sweet. He also keeps leaving me sweet messages on my fb profile every night so I find them in the morning.

DD is full of herself these days and it's exhausting and hilarious. I love that baby girl!

And...let's see...our big buy this time around was at the REI Attic Sale. DH snatched up a Bob Revolution Dualie for $80! Unbelievable.

Tippy: I So LOVE craigslist!! It's seriously a life savor!!

Tenk: omg your dh is the sweetest! Wow! I wish more men were so thoughtful. And yay for no pain today!!!

Whalemama: I so know what you mean about the money. It really adds up doesn't it? I like to make my dollar stretch and buy stuff off CL or thrift stores. You realy save a bundle on stuff you are not gonna use that long.

Kelly: I too can't believe how close we are getting. Seriously the big day will be here before you know it!

Mamabean: I get those painful jabs too. They seriously come out of no where and BAM! At least we know the kiddo is strong lol. Glad to hear you got your taxes done. So did I. I debt want to leave that for the last minute, plus I sure could use that refund!! So you got the roomba? I have had the scuba for a while. Only have used it a handful of times... Not really lovin it. Maybe I should have got the roomba.... I have wood floors so I don't know. I think I'll just sell it, it still has another 2-3 yrs under warranty too.

Ok so here is my update. Had an appointment today and everything is great. I am 28 weeks measuring 31. Bh contractions happening every few days but I'm not worried about it though sometimes they are pretty painful and I have to sit and breath through them. Baby girl is kickin all day, LOVE it. I got my Rohgam shot today and wowza, I forgot how bad that shot hurts. I thought my next appoinwnt would be every 2 weeks now but they said 4. I was a bit bummed about that. What I thought was weir is they want me to come in in 3 weeks for an ultrasound. I've never heard of a 30 week or in my case 31 week u/s. The weirder part is they won't to it at my OBs office, they want me to go to the hospital for it. I've never had to do that. An when I asked why it wouldn't be done there (because she has an u/s machine) I couldn't get a straight answer... Oh well. In other news, my SPD is getting to the unbearable stage where everything, I mean everything hurts. I may get one of those maternity belts if I can find a cheap one on eBay or cl. As mentioned above I got my taxes taken care of and thank goodness I'm getting a nce chunk of change back. Sadly I got some major bills in the mail so I won't be able to save much. It's sad cuz I was gonna use my refund money for my maternity leave pay. Inwasnt expecting my car registration to come in the mail and be DOUBLE what I usually pay and for my car insurance to come in at the same time. I pay my insurance 6 months at a time because it's cheaper that way but MAN that's a huge wad of cash, nearly $1000!!! Not to mention I still have a few things to get before babynis here **sigh** oh well, it is what it is and it needs to get paid. I'll make it one way or another.

Hi all, I just read about everyone's week but I'm pecking away in my iPhone and can't do personals or I'll be here for days
I am in Arizona with my sister and our friend, got to Phoenix Sunday and drove to Arcosanti for the night (this artist commmune type thing) and drove to the grand canyon today. We saw a bit of that for a few hours the afternoon and at sunset and will be spending all day tomorrow there too, and staying tomorrow nite. Hen to monumen valley Utah for one nite, then a nite in Sedona then two nites in Tucson then one night in Phoenix before we fly out Monday morning. Altitude is a litle rough (7000 feet, we're barely sea level at home!!) but no puffy ankles or anything even with all the plane and car travel. Baby is VERY active.
Hope evryone has a good week!

Yay! so glad you are there safely and having a great time. Was it your first time seeing the Grand Canyon? It's unbelievable, isn't it? that part of the USA has such a unique and gorgeous landscape.

Went in for my NST today, baby looked ok but not A+ so I had a BPP (ultrasound) too, and that's when we got the A+. I really like this Dr more so than the one I saw on Friday. While I felt like I finally connected to the lady on Friday (she's kinda new to the practice) I'm still not a fan of hers, and today the Dr was just so sweet and wanted the A+ as much as I did. She also said that the reason I'm gaining so much so fast is because I'm probably only able to keep CARBS down (so very true, and that's all I eat too) because the protein that I need is coming back up. She gave me a Rx for prilosec to try and combat this. I also set up all my appointments thru march and should have my amnio on March 30th or so. So every week I have an NST on Tuesday and a BPP on Friday thru March and should have baby girl by early April. I'm so excited.

BTW Em, I'm glad your having a good time in AZ!!!

OPM, you are correct, my DH is the sweetest ever

Kelly, vacations are the way to stay sane!!!

Star, so sorry about the SPD, I know it sucks!! I hope it eases for you.

Mommabean, UGH when they push that hard it hurts so bad, I'm glad your ok. I hope your DS is recovering by now too.

Where's everyone else at this week?

tippy -- Thanks for starting a thread, I always miss these! I am glad you got the first big item out of the way!
It feels so close and yet so far away from me!

We had a wonderful weekend together as a family, crafting and cooking and planning and reading together and lots of dipping fruit in chocolate, not much though in the way of baby things yet. More on this later though.

Tenk -- Your doing great! I know eating better can be hard, specially when you couldn't fill up before and really doesn't sound like you had been eating badly but goodness those greens and fresh stuff is wonderful for you. I wouldn't skip taco night though, those are good for the spirit I think!

whalemama17 -- If you have it to spend and clearly are being thrifty in the places you feel like you can then you are accountable only to yourself and budget. Don't let it stress you!

I am spending 3k just on the midwife and have yet to really buy anything for this baby and will not even start till April as that is when my budget lets me get the few big things I need. Till then all money goes to midwife and the month long vacation to see family and friends. I don't feel guilty. I will however feel a bit stressed if baby comes early or my April budget does not work out to include everything I want like the more costly baby wrap I want now. LOL

Sounds like everyone is doing pretty well, for the most part! I have barely bought anything for this baby - just some onesies actually! I have been keeping an eye on Craigslist for baby stuff, but it just seems sooooo far away still. Also, I am expecting a baby shower (Friends have hinted a lot) and so I want to see what i get then.....this is my first baby AND the first grandbaby on each side, SO....we'll see.

Had a MW appt today - I'm 25.5 weeks, measuring 26. Everything is going great for me. Sprocket (our name for the baby) is kicking up a storm, and I love it!!!

I'm headed to South Miami this weekend for a business trip, but considering we still have 3 more months of winter here.....I'll welcome any reason to go to Miami this time of year.
All I've bought are two pink onsies and a little dress with sunflowers and matching yellow shrug!

Does anyone else have to haul all the old baby stuff out of the basement or garage? I'm kind of afraid of the state it's all in. You should see the withering look DH gets when he says if there's some mold on it, we can just wipe it off!
Ugh woke up today miserable...I hope this just passes by because our anniversary is this weekend ...but alas I know it won't because it is our curse....EVERY anniversary we've had dh was sick (starting the day after we got married)...then last year I was the one sick...now it seems its me again.

*sigh* now I need hot tea, my bed, and to put my jammies back on!
Tenk, I <3 your DH! I'm really glad you got the A+
. I hope the Prilosec helps too.

mommabean, feel better!

emnic77, hope the rest of your trip is wonderful! I love Arizona sightseeing and landscapes.

OPM, glad everything went well at the appointment, weird about the random u/s though. Huh.

Hugs to everyone suffering from SPD
. I hope you all find relief.

kelly, I'm super impressed with your freezer stashing, way to go!

tippy, yay for CL! I love getting stuff on CL/Freecycle. We got babybel's furniture on there
.

My update: I just looked down about 30 minutes ago. I'm wearing my slippers. At work. Uh-huh. Good times.

Ah well. Thank god my office is casual archaeology office.

Other than that, passed the diabetes test last week and all was good at my 28w appt. On to every 2 week midwife visits now!

Fiber--I lectured in scuffed-up purple Doc Marten boots on Monday night. Not as casual as slippers at the office, but I hadn't done it in years. I needed shoes that had enough tread to handle the amount of snow & ice we have around.

Emnic--Your vacation sounds fantastic! I hope you're really enjoying your time with your sister & your friend.

Tenk--Glad the ultrasound went well. It certainly does sound as though you're scheduled for a lot of appointments.

Within the last 48 hours, I've hit what I'm considering to be the third trimester. I was going to consider this weekend my switchover point, but my body says it's now. Everything is uncomfortable. I get up from sitting and it hurts. I get up from laying down on the couch and it hurts. And forget even thinking about trying to hustle for a train. I'm good with this--I know it comes with the territory and that it's going to get even more intense--but I thought I probably had a couple more weeks before the uncomfortable phase set in.

My husband made me laugh in bed hard enough last night that I accidentally adjusted my back. It actually felt pretty nice but was quite unexpected. I need to go see my chiropractor again next week. I don't want to make a habit of it--he's pretty expensive--but I also need to be able to walk through this pregnancy.

Right this moment, I am so very tired. Only getting 6 hours of sleep last night doesn't help matters any, but that was at least six solid hours (I imagine there will be days in my life to come where I mock myself for complaining about "only" getting 6 hours of sleep). I was stressing late last night over a job application that I want to finish submitting by the end of this evening. It requires 8 supporting documents on top of the electronic application that gets routed through HR, so that's a lot of pages to sort through and make sure I haven't made any typos or accidentally uploaded the wrong file. And I want for everything to be worded precisely right, you know?

I had a good conversation with my advisor yesterday and am moving ahead with plans to defend my dissertation before Bagel gets here. Terrifying but necessary.

Tomorrow I'm heading to Athens (Georgia, not Greece) for the weekend to have a last hurrah with my husband before Bagel arrives. I'm really looking forward to it.

Mammabean, I'm so sorry you're sick and that one of you is sick every year at this time. Seems to go with the territory of cold weather though, huh?

Michelle, glad you passed the GTT, and I LOVE that you have your slippers on!!

Star, I know the joys of moving with pain, hopefully the self adjustment will last a few days. YAY! on the "defending of" as well!!! You're almost there!!

Kontessa, I'm sure it feels good to know that she'll be paid off though!

Jen, I would LOVE to go to Miami right now, I lothe cold weather.

TOM, theres nothing wrong with not getting things now, take your time you might enjoy it more that way!!

AFM, I know i said this else where already, but my BFF is having bloody show right now, and I might get to be at the birth if it's this evening YAY!!!

ETA: she's 3cm and is going to walk now YAY!!

Oh and my Amnio is scheduled for March 30th at 4p, so we'll know within a few days if she's ready to come out or not (from March 30th of course). I have a plan finally!!!

My midwife mentioned all of these tests for me too, except amnio. She said she had to because of their CYA policy, but that she was fine with whatever we wanted to do. The only reason is because of my extreme age (42) in the eyes of the med. com. at EDD. This may not be the place, but any input you might have would be great. We thought it sounded like a lot of u/s, and I've already had three.
