Anyone else gained weight yet? I went to the gym (admittedly for the first time in weeks) and had gained 3 pounds. I was a bit disappointed because I want to avoid gaining too much (I am already a woman of size) but my midwife and friends reminded me that my breasts are heavier, I have more blood now, my uterus is heavier, and I am drinking (water) like a fish.

But I still worry I am going to blow up like a balloon and want to feel great about my body! I worked hard to lose 10 pounds in the months before I got pregnant and to see 3 of them instantly appear was a bit disconcerting.

So, make me feel better, anyone else gained a bit of weight? I am eating really well, no junk, and lots of fruits, veggies and protein. Each meal I can't eat as much as before, but I am eating more healthy snacks.

I'm sure I have, but I haven't checked. Sadly, I got pg when I was the heavest I had ever been (except when pg). I am trying not to gain much this time around, but I fnd I need food in my tummy almost ALL of the time (except before bed) and that seems to be thwarting my efforts.

This is me. I eat a good high protein bfast only to be totally starved like I never ate within an hour or so. And then I eat all day. I feel like I always have food in my mouth. Driving me nuts because I also dont want to gain excessive weight this time.

I think I had gained about 3-5 lbs BEFORE I got pregnant, for some reason. I'll blame it on the fact that there have been a lot of birthday parties, showers, potlucks, and people inviting us out to eat.
Anyway, I have been eating really healthy lately.....lots of protein, whole grains, fruits 'n' veggies, but I still feel like I have gained even MORE weight since getting pregnant. I can't even stand to wear my jeans - they're too tight! Yikes!
: About a year ago, I weighed 213lbs. I got down to 172, but I think I'm just under 180 now.

Don't worry about it! You're going to be/are a beautiful mama!

I've gained about a pound even though I'm constantly puking and can hardly eat. Our bodies know what to do.

Ya'll know what to do, too. Eat healthy, get your body moving and it will thank you, so will your baby.

Trust me, I know this is much easier said than done, but I'm trying to make it my mantra!

(I wish one of you could remind me of this at 6:30 tonight when I'm trying-not-to-hurl my way through Body Buff at the gym)

I'm the heaviest (non-pregnant) I've been in YEARS. Trying not to let it get to me, though. I'm eating pretty healthy and anxiously awaiting my 2 prenatal exercise DVDs, and I plan to start walking on the treadmill at our office across the road next week. I didn't exercise at all during my last pregnancy (except a very small amount of walking) and want to be in better shape for labor and postpartum this go-round.

Oh, and I'll be 7 weeks on Saturday and have gained a pound.

I'm a lot like you, CarolynnMarilynn! I lost 16 pounds before we started TTC--used to go to the gym everyday. I gained back 5 of it, then we conceived. I was pretty darn steady until just this last week--I gained 3 pounds in one week!
: I blame it on my incredibly HUGE appetite. I've been eating very healthily, but just A LOT and often. I'm not going to worry about it too much, but I am going to try to reduce how much I eat (I'm out-eating my DH...didn't think that was possible!
He's actually getting jealous and worried that I will eat everything and there won't be any left for him!
). I'm also going to reduce the desserts. I only allow myself two a week, but guess that better go down to one per week for now.

I would think it is likely just water weight, I bloat up if I eat salty/processed foods, but it usually goes away in a day or so. Although last time I did end up gaining starting from the beginning. However, looking back I think I focused too much on eating extra rather than to just to satisfy my hunger. I had a pretty darn healthy diet last time, followed the Brewer diet, but there could have been definite improvements.
