Let me preface this by saying I have been having some health issues in the last week. I had a UTI travel upward and develop into a kidney infection for which I was hospitalized when it became acute.

I haven't had any contractions out of the ordinary, just a few BHs.

Yesterday, I had copious amount of discharge. It was very thick and white-ish, and there were some mucus-y globs in it. Almost like VERY thick ewcm, for those of you familiar with cervical fluid types. It was not at all like my mucous plug when I had dd - which was more like pulling out an enourmous glob of rubber cement. (Told you this was graphic! :LOL)

Today, it is less that yesterday, but still kinda mucousy. Is this normal? I am in my 26th week.

I've never seen that kind of discharge nor in that amount before........I think it warrants a call to your care provider. Does it smell funky?

I think its normal time to time to have a rather heavish discharge like that(it has happened to me recently as well)
But, as long as it does'nt smell, or tainted with blood or anything like that, and it doe'snt last but maybe a couple of bathroom visits, you should be fine.

Hmmm, I don't really know but just the other day at my appt. my midwife asked me if I was aware of the signs of preterm labour and we went over them....one was exactly what you seem to be describing so you have me a bit worried! She said copius discharge that was like that of egg whites...with or without bloody flecks (although bloody flecks was more worrisome).

So that combined with the UTI, which is a known cause of preterm worries me, but I don't want to scare you either because what do know, really?!! Since you have talked to your midwife already I am sure that things will be OK...just take it easy and keep hydrated.

Well, I'm not seeing any more....everything's just kinda thickish and white. Hoping it is just something wonky from everything I am taking. (Antibiotics, acidopholus, bee propolis, nettle tea, uva ursi, and cranberry juice.)

Well that's good...I am sure it probably is from all the stuff you've been taking! Doesn't sound like what my midwife was describing afterall then...phew! I just saw her on Tues. so it is fresh in my mind is all! I feel a little paranoid when it comes to PTL...I seem to be a bit of a freak of nature and don't experience painful contractions, so I worry that it would be too late once I realized what was happening!

I know you're anti but, but have you considered having your mw check you? We weren't expecting anything when she checked me and you know I was 1cm and 50% effaced....I'm just worried about you!

And I know how much bedrest sucks....I'm finally weaning myself off after 2 weeks of it....ugh it gets so old so fast!!!

Amy-

Yeah, I have considered it. My MW really takes the stance that if there IS something going on, the last thing you want is cervical checks, potentially disrupting everything even more.

I don't think I am having any PTL.....I am very aware of all of my BHs, and they are not very frequent.

I have talked to her about all of this, and we both agreed that cervical checking isn't the best option at this time.
I really appreciate your concern, though.

There should be a Bedrest Mama support thread here.....I can't be the only insane one around here. I think it'll only be a day or two and I will be up and around a bit.
