Hey all.

I'm 17 weeks along. My belly just popped out a week or two ago, and has gotten much more noticeable over the past few days. I'm now feeling lots of little pains on the sides of my belly (particularly the left), and down low right in front. They're like sharp twinges. Sometimes more uncomfortable.

I'm also feeling what seems like pressure in my vaginal area, and tonight an overall mild crampy feeling and heaviness. They crampy/heavy feeling is a bit like right before yr period. The vaginal pressure/discomfort I've never felt before.

Is this all normal stuff, or should I be worried about this? What's causing it?

I figure there is probably some round ligament pain on the sides, but not sure about in the front, and the pressure/crampy feeling.

Anyone else feeling this? Anything to do to make it feel better?

I've been experiencing a lot of the same. I am 16 weeks and this is my first, so as always I am curious what others will say and if this is "normal". I figure its just part and parcel to the pregnancy aches, but I have been surprised by how soon I am feeling them. Doesn't seem like I have enough of a belly to justify all the ligaments pains and pressure I feel.

I had a really hard time sleeping last night. . .keep wanting to lay on my back but worry about doing that and on my side my ligaments kept complaining. I have been mildly crampy this weekend off and on too.

The crotch/vaginal ache is in full effect here. Ugh. When it really starts to hurt I sit down and it usually goes away....for a little while.

What you describe sounds normal to me, too.

i've definitely been more crampy for a couple of weeks now. it's off and on for a few minutes or so a couple times a day, maybe about every day. it seems to be tapering off some now though, not happening on a daily basis any longer. i get the round ligament pains too mostly in the front of my belly, in fact i haven't had any i can recall on the sides like some describe. i think this is all normal?

I'm 15 weeks and feeling it too. I think it is just because the relaxin is loosening up everything in our pelvic and hip area. Sometimes my pelvic bones just ache. I think it is normal unless it is really painful. But you could tell your midwife/dr. about it and see what they say.

Oh, and the crampy feelings could be some light BH contractions. I have been having them here and there too. I just try to drink more water and take some cal-mag.

what ironic timing!

today at the gym I started feeling very mildly crampy. not even like period cramping...but a bit twingy crampy. i have not felt really any sort of cramping this whole time.

its been on and off today. i was wondering the same. i haven't felt any vaginal pressure, and luckily haven't had any joint/hip pain at night - but i do struggle to get comfortable. i am most inclined to lay on my stomach and then that winds up aching. the sides don't work, so i wind up on my back - flipping back and forth between that and the front all night. ack. might be time to get some pillows.

i think as long as you can characterize them as "little pains" everything is just fine. AFM, the past few days i've felt more of a strain/stiffness in the gut area when standing up from sitting in a chair or (worse) on the floor. i have to take my time to get up from the floor. i guess i'm getting bigger.

The "twinges", like sharp little pulling pains, along the sides are round ligament. The crotch/vaginal pressure/achiness could be a couple things... There's a lot of extra fluid and blood flow, so you could be swollen which could make the tissue ache some. You could also have some symphasis pubis dysfunction or separationg starting, google it and see if it sounds like what you're feeling.

Just wait until your 8th or 9th month when baby drops...it feels like a bowling ball between your legs!

I am so glad to see this thread. I just looked up vaginal twinges on Saturday and thought about posting. I am only 16 weeks, and I remember having this with my daughter, but I thought it happened later. I can't believe I am sore already, and I swear I can feel when I get kicked in the cervix already or the baby is hitting some nerve or something. It was enough to wake me up on Saturday. This is an active little bugger.

What a relief to read these posts! I've been having some pains down there too lately. Sounds weird, but it feels like it's my cervix or something (not regular cramping), so it's freaking me out. I've been taking it as a cue to sit down whenever I feel it. Hope it goes away soon!

I've been having some odd pains too, that come and go. And the other day when I lifted a couple of grocery bags it made me very sore in my vaginal area and lower back/buttocks area. ouch! It lasted about 24 hours. I had to lay around and walking felt horrible. So I know I have to be careful now when carrying heavy things.

I "try" to go by the rule that if I'm not bleeding or cramping then it's just normal aches and pains of the pregnancy.
But I will call the doctor if I have any questions.

I could have sworn this is what I was feeling a couple of times last week. But I have yet to really feel this baby move around much so I don't know if that's what it was or not, but it sure felt like BH.

And I also have that heavy feeling when getting up and down from the couch. We have a soft couch that you kind of fall down in to and it's so uncomfortable when I try to get up off the couch in the evenings after a long day. I can't believe I am feeling this way so early on. I'm not even showing that much yet.
