i saw my midwife today, the pain is right where my esophagus meats my tummy and there is a flap there that is effected by relaxin and is causing the weird pain, that and the growing baby pushing everything up. i am glad she didn't think it was my gallbladder or anything. also i ave noticed if i slouch the pain is a lot worse when ii have good posture the pain goes away completely or almost completely so i guess this baby wants me to sit up straight!
i have been having a strange pain. it may not be pregnancy related i can't tell and i'm not sure if i should call my midwife or not i mean i don't see any reason not to tell her but i don't like feeling like a pest if it is nothing.
it isn't really in my belly it is higher on my torso sorta between my belly button and my breasts maybe a little higher than right in the middle but almost in the middle and a little to the right. it started off just sometimes feeling sorta odd there then feeling sorta tender and for the past day or two it has been sore. i have no idea why it is sore there or what is in that part of my body. i have been having pretty sever nausea that seems to be getting worse instead of better and my gut sorta says this tender spot is related to the nausea. i know the nausea is pregnancy related and my midwifes know about the nausea. i had hoped the nausea would be better by now or at least mild, it seems like it is gone for a day or so but then comes back and every time it comes back it seems stronger and i really don't think i can handle nausea any worse than how bad it has gotten. i'm dry heaving but not actually loosing any food so thats good i guess. but then maybe the nausea isn't related to the pain, the pain started when i wasn't dry heaving at all so i don't think that caused the pain. if anyone has any ideas please let me know. or if i should call my midwifes.

I can't picture exactly where you're describing but I had a pain in a place that sounds like where you're describing when I was pregnant with ds. My OB had me checked for gallstones. I didn't have them, turned out ds just kicked me really hard and probably bruised my stomach, but I was about 5 months pregnant.

Sounds kinda strange, I think I would call, or wait till my next apt. (depending on how far away that is) and mention it to her, ask her what she thinks you should do about it.

I had that with my first pg--it was gallstones and I had my gallbladder removed after the baby was born. My ob brushed me off until the pain continued after baby was born. During pg the ob said the baby must've been kicking me. :

It gets continually worse and attacks happen when you eat any amount of fat. And I mean any. Once I had the baby and the attacks continued, they did the scan and found out it was gallstones. While awaiting surgery, they told me to eat nothing with fat. I ate tomato soup, raw veggies and brown rice for a month and lost 30 pounds. One day I put dressing on my raw salad and had an attack that night. It's not pleasant and I feel for you!

I also remember reading that it is very common for pregnant women to develop gallstones. I would definitely ask your midwife to have you checked out.

I had pain like that a couple weeks ago. I also started getting really bad heart burn. Then one day, the pain got really bad. The doctor thought it may have been my gallbladder. After that bad day, I haven't had a single pain or heartburn since.

My husband had a gallbladder attack last year. He read to eat a bunch of apples. Then, at night drink olive oil with lemons squeezed in it. He was fine the next day.

Sounds like gallbladder which can act up during pregnancy. Do you have any pain around your right shoulder blade? That can also be a symptom.

Now as far as me, I sometimes get gallbladder pain like this when I am not pregnant and eventually it goes away. I wouldn't ignore it during pregnancy though.

However, when I was about 4 weeks along (I am 8 weeks) I got this pain and ended up taking Nux Vomica for indigestion. It seemed to work. HOWEVER, I suggest you talk with someone first.

Hey moonfroggy,
I'm 28 weeks along now, and have been having this weird pain off and on too. Mine is about an inch upward and to the left of my belly button. It generally feels like a large person has their thumb inside my abdomen and is pushing straight out. It also feels like its bruised. But it started when the baby was tiny tiny tiny, so I know it isn't from kicking. I did talk to my midwife right away... she said she just didn't know what it is. Every few weeks or so it comes back and then fades away. MW said I could have an ultrasound to see if there was bleeding or something, but if there was then there probably wasn't much to be done anyway. Just my experience. I hope yours resolves itself!
well the pain has gotten milder so i will wait until i talk to my midwife next which should be today or tomorrow. fruit seems to make the pain worse and salty fatty things tend to cause no pain or little pain so i am thinking it is probably not my gallbladder and possibly heart burn. i have had lots of hert burn in my life but it never felt like this so i'm not certain. i am 15 weeks pregnant and haven't felt real kicking yet so i don't think it is kicking causing it it happens directly after eating. and is about 4 inches above my belly button
