I'm not sure if this is pregnancy related but because this pregnancy has just been strange the whole way through it wouldn't surprise me. I developed a patch of red bumpy skin on my back about an inch wide in all directions. It doesn't itch but hurts, like a stinging pain. I tried Hydro-cortisone on it which did nothing. It's been there all week and doesn't seem to be improving or getting any worse. I've been noticing the pregnancy mask as well this week which is what makes me wonder if its just a weird pregnancy thing. I don't want to make a separate doctor appt to have this checked. I have a prenatal on Tuesday and was planning just to ask the OB to look at it, would this be bad manners do you think?

I had that PUPPS rash when I was pregnant with Macie, and it started in a small patch around my belly button. I hope that's not what it is, though! I lived on benadryl the last couple of weeks with her.

o.k., I don't think its PUPPS. After reading that mostly develops on the belly but this is on my upper back. There is something similar that you can develop beginning in the third trimester called prurigo of pregnancy that can happen anywhere on the body. It seemed like the little patch was improving and then I got another one directly above the original <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"> It's itching so bad!!! Good thing my doctor appointment is today.

The doctor didn't know quite what was causing the rash <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"> But he prescribed me some heavy duty cortisone that will hopefully help with the itch. I really hope it gets better because last night was awful, I want to be able to enjoy the little sleep I get over the next 8 weeks.
