weird white "blister"on nipple

hey mommas~ so I'm still nursing my 2 yr and 8m old and have had a relative easy experience. But a couple of days ago it started to hurt like hell when she latched on my right boob, I thought it was the latch or teeth, and so just readjusted. After less then a minute it stops and I forget until the next time. Now today I just happened to look cause I haven't had pain like this since the first month of nursing. There is a small white dot, like a blood blister but it's white. Any ideas? I have never had a clogged duct or anything; there are seemingly enough open ducts

So would appreciate any ideas... thanks!

it's a milk blister! i've had those lots. they're basically a clogged milk duct opening, i think...

what i would do--pop it with a STERILE needle (you'll see milk come out and the whiteness kind of start to go away) and then have DD nurse on that side. if you don't pop it, it will just hurt for a few weeks till it goes away. i used to put up with them because i was scared of popping them with a needle, but i had DH do it for me, and it was totally fine!

you can take soy lecithin supplements to keep them away!

It may be a milk bleb/blister. If you don't have a plugged duct (or ducts) backing up behind the blister, you can probably just grit your teeth and wait for it to heal, which generally (in my experience) takes less than a week. Watch your baby's latch carefully- teething often causes an alteration in latching as baby soothes her sore gums on your breast, and can make blisters more likely.

This is what happened to me - I had reoccuring blisters for months while dd was getting in her molars. You can try to gently exfoliate the blister with a warm washcloth. Sometimes they go away on there own. I took a lethicin supplement (made with egg, but you can also get in from soy). Also, the Mastisis tincture by WishGarden helped a lot... I didn't have an infection, but the bottle said it helps with plugged ducts in general.

THANKS MOMMAS! YOU ROCK!
:

(I thought about "popping" it myself but then I didn't want to run into issues... of course it's a little better today- isn't that always how it happens?)

Happy nursing to you!
