Well, it's a...

... very modest baby. Who evidently wants to force its mother to be patient. I am very disappointed, and I was frustrated that the u/s tech didn't seem to be trying very hard. She seemed to think I would be coming back for like 8 more u/s and I could just find out then. No, lady, this is it! And it was the icky u/s center that the HMO requires us to go to.

So that's that. Now we better get going on picking out names, because with double the decision making and our different tastes, it's going to take forrrrrrrr-ever.

Everything else seemed to look good, and the little heart was beating great, so I don't mean to sound ungrateful!
And I guess it's better to wait and be sure than to find out and have it be wrong... that would really mess with my head. Oh well. Wasn't meant to be!

Noooo!!! Mimi, oh my gosh, how frustrating! I can't believe the tech wasn't able to tell. I'm glad for you that everything else looked good, since that is the point and all.
Isn't it great to see the little heart and the baby moving around? Well, you will have a big surprise on your baby's birthday...
for the disappointment of not being able to find out, though.

I am so sorry! I personally am horribly impatient & want to find out ASAP!!! I am terrified that this baby will be shy too as we are going to have to pay out of pocket for u/s & will also only be having 1.

Well atleast you know that your baby is healthy looking & all seems well.
when people ask me if i know what i'm having, i think i'm going to start saying, "well, i'm pretty sure it's not a puppy," and leave it at that.

maybe you could do the same...???

I found out the sex of my second child precisely because ds1 thought there *was* a puppy in my belly!

I didn't find out with my first or third and don't intend to for this one either. We have no fixed names or ideas at all - we'll just wait to see who the baby is when he or she arrives.
i am actually terrified of this happening..
I have my next ultrasound on the 24th. I'm kind of hoping they can tell, but if not it's really not a big deal, I mean, we'll find out eventually anyways. It can't hide forever. Besides, with this pregnancy being high risk they're doing an ultrasound every 4-6 weeks. So, if they can't tell this time, maybe next time. With dd#1 my dh didn't think the tech was right about her being a girl so we had to go back a month later and have it double checked. He's still convinced she was going to be a boy. Something about the tech jinxing us or something?!?lol men are funny.
I was thinking about you on Friday!

I'm sorry she didn't try hard enough. I'm glad, though, that little Sesame is doing well.

Good luck with choosing names. How are you guys going about it? DH and I each made lists and compared. We didn't have any in common, but instead, we liked a few of each other's suggestions.

I would be so frusterated!!! I am paying out of pocket for my u/s too. I only have one so i am waiting until the middle of the 20th week so maybe it will move and shake a lot more and be delevoped the most...crossing fingers.

How do you do it? I have only my ds and boy clothes...if we have a girl i would have nothing and if we have a boy i don't want a ton of girl clothes that i don't need!! I have little enough money as it is!!

You could get or request neutral colors (usually yellow and pastels) for the newborn size. Then you can get gender specific colors and clothing as your DC grows out of sizes.

Are you planning on any more children after this? If you have a girl, you could sell the boy clothes that are in good condition or better. Your best bet in this regard is either eBay or Craiglist.

Receiving boy stuff when you've had a girl and vice versa happens quite often. So, stores don't usually have a problem taking exchanges on gifts if the tag is intact and the item unwashed.

Good luck!

Mimi37-I'm sorry for your frustration and thought I'd share my experience. I was told flat out my child was a boy. We planned for a boy, had boy clothes, painted the room blue, you name it. Low and behold we were presented with a girl
Of course I wouldn't have it any other way because she is my buddy, BUT today I would not believe what they told me till the baby was in my arms. Now this was 16 years ago, so I'm thinking things have changed. My dd's cousin was expecting and told they were having a girl-pink room, girl's clothes, etc. They were presented with their little boy...this was two weeks ago. So even if anyone finds out...it would be wise to have a few backup neutral clothes IMHO.

Thanks for the support, everybody. I am feeling better now that the initial surprise and disappointment wore off. And you all helped!
