So the last couple of days my very strong BH contractions have an added, more painful element. yay. Now in addition to the tightening, I also feel a really really sharp zinger in my cervix at the same time. I remember some electrical shock-type feelings from my last pg but this seems alittle different and is at the same moment as the BH.

Any clue?

i (who am not a birth professional and am totally guessing at your symptoms based on my own) would say that sounds like the baby has a finger or something up against your cervix, and when the contraction comes he/she gets pushed down a bit, and ZING! i got some pokes from inside a couple of weeks ago, unrelated to bh, but wow. seriously weird, and attention-getting!

I love cercial pains, there was a post about them not to long ago. I get some that can send me to the floor. The science behind it is as pregnancy progresses the weight of the baby and bh causes the cervic to soften and eface alittle bit, prepwork for the big day. As we all know the cervic is full of nerves and tiny blood vessles, so the shocks or pin pricks are the cervic thining and dialating alittle, all very normal can be intense. Some woman never feel them and some have them all the time, Iam one of the blessed ones that have had them with all babies. Some times it is our body telling us that we need to slow down and take care of ourselves.

My BHC are progressing too. They seem to be getting stronger and more frequent, and more uncomfortable. I am also having cramp-like pains, and sharper pains either in my legs or side of my tummy. It's so annoying! My midwife assures me that they're just either BH or PTL, which I know it's not. I'm not getting any of the changes or signs of ptl, mucous, blood or anything. SHe seemed to indicate that 'false' labour or 'prelabour' isn't anything, it's either BH or real labour, pre-term or not. Thoughts?
So my BH are just 'developing' into other sensations as well?
I too am getting stronger BH ctx and I get some "zingers" as well - especially when the baby is very low in my pelvis. The kid sometimes gets really low, and then later he will be higher in my pelvis, which is so much more comfortable, but I know the lower he is, the more likely I am to be "ready" :

Sometimes when he is really low, I will just put my hands under my belly and lift him a bit so that I am more comfortable.
