Why does my favorite tea, Honey Peach Ginger by Celestial Seasonings suggest that I consult my HCP if pregnant or nursing? Well, I have been using it while nursing, but now being pregnant, what could the risks be? I thought the ginger might be good for a queasy stomach. Thanks for any ideas or advice.

It is probably just a cover your butt type of thing, but what type of herbs does it have in it? I have heard that licorice should be avoided in early pregnancy.

Oh, here is a link I found. I don't know how accurate it is, but you could check your tea and check this site to see if it is on the herbs to avoid: http://pregnancytoday.com/reference/articles/herbs.htm

OK, I'm off to have some licorice root tea with a liberal dose of cayenne now.

Surely, for some of those anyway, they mean you shouldn't take mass quantities. They also say to avoid cinnamon. Good heavens--I eat cinnamon probably almost daily! I also really like peppermint. Helps with the queasies.

Well, as far as licorice, ginger, cinnamin, and peppermint go, they are all safe for pregnancy. In fact licorice, peppermint, and ginger are all wonderful for helping ease queeziness in the first trimester!
Practically all nutritional supplements, herbs & herbal teas, etc carry so-called "warnings". It is just a stupid procedure brought about by the FDA... basically no company that is not a "conventional" drug or medicine company can claim cures through their products, and since they can claim no cures they are not responsible for any harm that the products may produce. It's just a blanket warning, drink the tea without worry!

funny thing isn't it... fast food consumption, coffee, chocolate, and fried foods all can raise BP as well, but these don't come w/ any warnings.
