it wasn't running but more like jog/walk. for every 1-2 minutes of jogging i walked for 30 seconds. anyways, about an hour after i got home i notice my pelvic area(inside and out) was very sore and heavy. i'm assuming this is because my muscle tone down there is weak. does this sound normal? is there anything i can do on my next run to help with it? is it even possible to do kegels while running?

If I were you I would stop running until I ruled out pelvic organ prolapse. I have I mild prolapse, and running makes it worse. With a prolapse, the ligaments that support the uterus are weakened and can't hold it up properly, and the impact of running causes the uterus to fall further into the vaginal vault. The bladder, rectum, and vaginal walls can also prolapse.

It is about dealing with prolapse with exercises and postures, without surgery.

Running is contraindicated with prolapse, but you can walk and do a lot of different types of exercise. You may be able to run with a pessary, or after using the exercises maybe running would be possible again.

I have a mild prolapse that is made worse by running. I use a sponge as a pessary when I run and it usually keeps me feeling good and prevents the prolapse from getting any worse. For some reason I decided it was a good idea to train for a marathon, but so far so good!

thanks ladies. i thought of prolapse issues. i've been on two more runs and haven't had anymore problems. in fact i feel great. i think it was a combo of being really out of shape/low muscle tone/ovulating. i get a lot of bloating and pressure when i'm ovulating. i'm going to keep a close eye on this. if it comes back again i'll stop and see a doctor to rule it out.
