Well I convinced my DH to go to our local CDing store to check things out, I wanted to see about getting some prefolds because I figured since they are so cheap online that I would just get them locally and save shipping.

WRONG!

They only had 1 kind of prefold, it was infant sized but they did say they could get bigger ones in for me, they wanted 14.99 CDN for 2 prefolds.

From what I have seen online this seems extremely high to me.

They also only had 3 kinds of diapers, Kooshies, Mother ease just fitted and AIO, and then Bummis. They don't carry Pockets because the lady said they are not good and she doesn't carry what doesn't work. Doublers and Soakers were 3.50 each and wipes were also 3.50 each CDN.

They just seemed really expensive to me I could be wrong but it just seemed kind of high.

So anyway I think I am going to stick to online shopping, not that I can really get out much anyway so it's not a huge deal.

My DH also decided that he doesn't want to use Prefolds, so if I want him to change the baby also apparently I need to get fitted or AIO.

So now I am wondering if I should just do fitted instead, I told him it's more money but he said it doesn't make sense for us to get something that he isn't going to use.

He's a little daunted by the whole CDing concept, he doesn't do well with change at all he's a little ridged(sp).

So anyone have suggestions for good fitted diapes?

I have been looking at the Under The Nile ones they seem decent. I would liek to get something that is a little more trim and not so bulky if possible.

I think I am going to still get some PF's for me to use during the day when DH is at work after his 4 months off that he gets when the new baby comes, and use Fitted or AIO for night and on weekend and outings etc.

Suggestions??

I have been to 2 store that sell cd and it does seem that they charge more than what you could get it for online (although not $7.50 a prefold
: ) There are wahm that offer free shipping over a certain amount purchased. It's the wait that kills me though

I say stick with on line shopping. I am with your dh we prefer cute and easy. So for newborns we like a variety.
My Precious baby fitteds and tiny aio's
tykie diapers fitteds
diaper babies
SB fitteds
Magic Alls' xs AIO's
Just to name a few
and for covers we like pro raps, thristies, and bummis

My DH was rigid about not doing the CD thing either and all I bought was PFs and covers. I assured him he could use whatever he was comfortable with. But after watching me for a few weeks putting on a PF with Snappi and cover he came around and now CD like a pro!

Were they cotton or hemp prefolds? I work at a store that sells CDs, and the price definitely seems high if they were cotton PFs, but not if they were hemp. (For comparison, where I work infant cotton PFs are $2.50 each and toddler ones are $3.00 each. Hemp PFs are $6-$9 depending on size.)

That seems a little outrageous to pay for prefolds!!

We have a variety of all sorts of diapers and when my hubby changes the baby he only uses the prefolds, snappis, and bummi covers now! He does this because he says that he wants to prove to me that he can do it. I think it is because all the pockets and fitteds are a little confusing for him. I have come home a few times to a prefold covered by an AIO or a kissaluvs on inside out
. Some pretty weird stuff, but he does know what he is doing with the prefolds.
Infact he can put it on her better then I can!

My dh is another one who in the long run ended up preferring prefolds over fitteds, lol. I think if we had just had one kind of fitted and cover it might have been different, but we had too much variety and he was continually confused about which ones needed covers and which cover worked best with which fitted, etc. He eventually just started grabbing for a prefold and snappi everytime, because he thought those were simpler. Every cover works with prefolds, so he didn't have to worry if he had the right combo or not.

If money is an issue you may want to take a look at Altogether Fitteds. They're plain, but they're a lot cheaper than other fitteds and I've read over and over about people really liking the way they perform. I have some fitteds that are practically identical to them but a different brand that is no longer made, and I love them. I only have 3, and they're the few fitteds that I won't part with. I've used them with my last 2 babies and plan on using them again with this baby. The ones I have look identical to the Altogethers, same cut/style, same type snaps, and are birdseye cotton. I love them. They are absorbent, fit great, dry quick, and are very durable like a prefold would be. The snaps have held up extremely well. You can get them here: http://nickisdiapers.com/catalog.php...3Fcategory%3D2

I have a local brick-and-mortar store. I am willing to pay a little bit more to support having the local store. For example, it is very convenient to be able to go an try on covers IRL, rather than order, wait, try on, return or resell, etc. However, I probably wouldn't pay more than, say, 25% more than the online price with shipping. You might see if the local store could lower her prices, saying, for example, "I would really love to support such a wonderful local business, but I can't afford to pay X% more for the same product I could get online for $Y."

Wow! That seems like a lot for prefolds!

When we first started all we had were prefolds and dh just learned. I am of the belief that he is a parent too, so just because he doesn't *want* to change diapers, that doesn't mean he gets out of it. I don't ask him to do a lot, I'm a sahm, but I do it all day, and I thought that he should have to help when he got home. Now, we loves prefolds and even though we have other stuff, he always picks prefolds!

I don't know that I am going to be quite that "you have to use these" with him. I am a SAHM also but honestly my DH does EVERYTHING. LOL

He does the dishes, loads and unloads the dishwasher, he does laundry, he cleans the house, he cooks, he bakes. He really does everything that I do also and we really just share everything so I don't feel like I do everything and he doesn't at all. I'm lucky.

He also gets up with our DD at 6:00am when she wakes up, every day, and lets me sleep in. He chages diapers now and I am sure that he would change the CD it's just a matter of having to and getting use to it. He bathes her and does everything he can with her.

So I don't really have any place to complain.

I don't mind getting some fitted's, contours or AIO for him to use and I will use the prefolds during the day when he is at work. I was planning on using the AIO or AI2 anyway at night and for when we go out.

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound harsh.....maybe it came across that way. I just get frustrated when some moms complain about how their husband's refuse to change diapers (or do anything else for that matter!).....I mean, like I said, they're a parent too, yk? It's great that your hubby helps out so much!

My DH will only change a dipe if it's really easy. He won't use our PFs or flats.

Check out: www.extraordinarybabyshoppe.com They are in Canada, fairy close to you...so shipping should be reasonable. I've bought from them before & was happy with it.
Also www.jamtots.com is Awesome! They are west-coast...but their shipping prices are pretty reasonable & they usually have good sales & promos...great selection, too.

A couple of my local stores have a limited selection of cloth diapers. One has mostly Mother Ease / a few prefolds and the other mostly Bummis. The prices were alright but I think more imporantly the limited selection seems to make cloth diapering seem harder and less fun than all the great stuff you can find online. No cute pockets, hey, not even any cute fittteds. I think online is definately the way to go.

On the other hand, if I have a diaper emergency where i need some BSWWs or decide I love Mother Ease's XS Sandy's, it's kinda comforting to know there's a supply close by.
