We do most of our shopping at grocery outlet.
We got those tomatoes last week
OUr store is really good about the dates, if it is close (within a day or two) of the exp. date, they mark it WAY down and put a big sign to let ya know. We get our yogurt from there a lot, it is usually 33 cents for a small size and 99 cents for a quart, often organic.

We have one and usually go there first on grocery days. We've been getting shelled edamame for a buck a bag. The produce isn't very good, so we buy that elsewhere.

My dd calls it "gross-out", but it really isn't that bad if you shop carefully and don't expect to find absolutely everything there.

Ooh, I love this place. I go there once a week. Sometimes I can find everything I need! Like bags of organic spinach or cans of organic tomatoes. Plus they always have lots of gourmet type cheeses for super cheap. YUMMM

We have one down the street from us practically. Their produce sucks, though I wouldn't buy it from there anyway. But it's not even the same quality as other local stores, not even close. Ick! Their cow milk is almost double the price anywhere else! But most everything else is cheaper, that we buy anyway.

canned organic minestrone soup for 79 cents

boxes of Hickory Farms seeded flatbread crackers for 25 cents!! :

boxes of frozen Loma Linda veggie Chik-nuggets for $1.99

frozen Worthington veggie sausage patties for $1.99

bags of frozen meatless meatballs for $1.99

DiGiorno frozen cheese pizzas (made with organic flour and tomatoes) for $2.99

A lot of these things will make for quick meals on nights when I'm exhausted and forgot to prep something ahead of time for dinner, but will be cheaper than going to a restaurant.
