I had a sharp pain in my abdomen and I started bleeding bright red blood so I called my midwife and she said to meet her at the hospital.

After being violated with instruments and fingers it was established that the blood is just from my cervix... a certain layer of it... I can't remember what the doctor called it. And apparantly the bleeding and the sharp pain are unrelated. No contractions and the baby was super active with a strong heartbeat (all the way up to 190 during movements!).

So all in all nothing serious seems to be wrong but I'm to call my midwife back if there is any more bleeding or if the pain gets worse.

Oh and men should NOT be allowed to perform pelvic exams on women, I don't care if they have M.D. after their name (doctor had to perform exam instead of midwife because I am preterm).

I bet that was scary, but I am so happy to hear everything was okay in the end!

I cannot imagine having a male caregiver for pregnancy myself. I felt "violated" when I had a vaginal ultrasound after my miscarriage. A woman inserted the probe (?), but her superior had to come over and move it around. Yack! I am sorry you had to go through that.

Sooo glad everything is okay!! That must have been quite a scare, and then compounded by a rough exam. Blech.

And women aren't always great with that stuff either. I had a horrifically uncomfortable vaginal ultrasound that was performed by a woman. She insisted that I keep my legs straight (out in front of me), and dove the probe in from the top and then thrashed around with it. WTF?? I left that office soon after (didn't like my OB either).

I am so glad everything is ok. That must have been soooo scarry!

When I had DD there was this annoying nurse that would check my cervix and she had the longest most annoying fingernails! I wish I would have just asked for someone else.

Just wanted to add my ob with ds1 and dd was very gentle when giving pelvic exams (a man) I have had very rough ones from some woman....one even stated "Oh....it's not that bad" when I involuntarily jumped when she examed me.

It is different with every person....but being a man does not automatically mean he will be rough.
