it will be me my 4 year old, my 2 year old and 1 cat. im guessing that where we move will probly not have a washer and dryer or hookup so how much clothing is approrite?

toys. the age old question. right now they have more than ehough and im still weeding thru. becuz we will be moving away from family im going to try to keep our home life the same as much as i can but whats enough?

ive had things ive moved from at least 2 diffrent houses and its still in the box. i should probly just get rid of it huh? What about documents and manuals?

I just moved and downsized a ton so I know the panic you are feeling!

If you do not think you will have washer/dryer hookups I would only keep enough clothing to get through x amount of days...the number of days between when you can get to the laundrymat. Save a little extra but really give the extra away.

As for toys. Keep what they play with and donate the rest. If you are going to have space issues at the next house, limit toys to x amount of boxes.

As far as documents and manuals. Go through your documents, tax info keep 7 years of, basic utilities you can toss as soon as your next bill comes in that shows they received your last payment. Many companies have their manuals on line now...if space is going to be an issue, make a notebook with all of your model and serial numbers, websites for the companies and toss the manuals (as long as you have checked to be sure they are available on line).

As far as general decluttering....I am the opposite of a pack rat because my father was and his entire family still are giant pack rats. If you have not used it in 6 months get rid of it. I do 3 months, but I have seen pack rats go into panic attacks when I say 3 months, so for as far out as 6 months but nothing more! I know that you think that one day you will need that twisty thingy that helps you do X but really, toss it! If you ever do, you can get a new one!

If you still have stuff in boxes from the last move and it is not something like your first pair of booties or some other strong emotional attachment....get rid of it!

Good luck on your move!

We just moved last March to a house about the same size, but with no basement storage to hide the amount of stuff you have----so I filled my van probably 5-6 times to FULL capacity with stuff for the Goodwill!! I felt free and light and absolutely wonderful for getting rid of SO much stuff I really didn't realize we had! I even went through the plastic tubs of baby clothes---and have limited myself to 1 large memory tub per child----this is down from probably 4-5 per child!
