My day has been going quite crappy. My toddler was a fussy monster all morning (and I mean that in the most loving way). The babe is cutting two teeth and mom was a moron yesterday and forgot the sunscreen so he's got himself a nice little sun burn. So, of course, he's been not a happy camper today.

I finally get the toddler down for a nap and the babe is playing happily on the floor. I grab my nice clean fluffy basket of laundry to fold. The highlight of any cloth diapering mom's day. I set in . . . folding the first 4 diapers when I suddenly pull one out that is damp. I was confused. What is on my diapers? I take a sniff . . . . IT'S CAT PEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My damn cats crawled into my nice clean basket of diapers and peed!!!!! I started smelling them and they all reeked of cat urine (and if you have smelled cat urine you know about the horrible, gag me smell). So, I just threw those back into the wash . . . I'll probably have to wash them several times. I'm glad it wasn't a huge load. In the mean time my diaper pale is over flowing with the dirty diapers I had wanted to get washing today. I'm a little peeved.

PS: Anyone want a couple cats????

Jaime, what a rotten day.
For the dipes, do you have any oxyclean? It will help get the smell out. While I love my cats, if they ever peed on my dipes it would get ugly

I love my cats dearly, but I would want to behead one if they peed on my diapers. Do you have any Petzyme? (available at Petsmart and other "mass" pet places). It's cheap (around $8 for a gallon)-- it's like the expensive nature's miracle. Soak your dipes in a couple of cups of that and some hot water; it should take care of the smell.

Petzyme is also awesome for diaper stains; spray on after cold wash, let sit overnight, wash in hot in the AM.

Ewwww. Mine pooped in the nursery last night and that ticked me off enough. If she peed on my diapers I think she would be someone else cat! Sorry you are having a bad day. Hope it gets better.

My cat days were long before children and diapers. But I definitely know the frustration b/c one of them started pee'ing in the closet and once the non-in-the-litterbox pee'ing started, I cdn't ever get it to stop. (whoops, that is being negative... um, Turk was a unique cat w/ a short learning curve. I'm sure your cats will be much better.
)

Hope one of the above suggestions works to de-stink your diapers. I'm sunning some stains-- or I was before rain clouds rolled in. Maybe some sun and fresh air time would help too?

I'm feeling your pain sista!

T I actually responded to this thread because the title reminded me of one of my favorite all time children's books, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Voirst. She has a very amusing perspective on parenting. It's worth a read for those of you who haven't encountered it.

Back to the cat thing, my dh's Lala would be camping out for the next few nights if he pulled one like that. My cat, Banshee (may she rest in peace) would have never done anything like that.

Yep, we used to have 5 cats - now we're down to 3.

Peeing on diapers is a Humane Society-bound offense.

As are:

barfing all the freakin' time.

fighting.
waking the babies over and over with your stinkin' meowing and scratching on their door.
bugging me.

being a general pain.

That said, the remaining 3 each have at least 2 paws out that front door right now. Mommy's patience is stretched.

I will take them! They taste like chicken....

: :LOL
: JUST KIDDING, I wouldn't eat them, but if a cat peed on my diapers (er I mean Joe's diapers) it would be on my hit list for sure! Our new puppy sniffed one of Joe's diapers once and I screached so loud across the room it makes a WIDE detour around any diaper in its sight now! LMAO

ooh, ick. I'm sorry. I had a cat...Leroy, bless his heart. I loved him sooo much. He would always pee on my stuff though. Before kids we had him. He ran away one night when we moved to a new place. I mean the night we got to our new place he jumped out of my arms and never came back!LOL

I guess he really didn't like me, but I thought he was the cutest, coolest cat! He really liked my DH and didn't pee on his stuff, just mine

I ditto the Petzyme or something like it. When we moved into our house we discovered a certain smell, long story short it was animal pee (dog and cat) it had gone thorugh the rug, pad and into the sub-flooring!
: We doused the flooring with the enzyme stuff and it helped. We also got an odor neutralizer called XO that works well too.

s mama, I hope you find something that works!
