<p>One of my dd's friend's from school was away for a week.  So I said well when she comes back, try not to get close to her because she probably had strep throat. </p>
<p>You see her mom believes that if she sprays 'collidal silver' on her 10 yr old's throat, that will heal her child.  She's not into antibiotics, even though her dr.s has told her that he recommends this,  when she is positive for Strep.</p>
<p>So of course, my dd hangs out with this child, then after 3 days, she starts to feel crummy.  Sore throat, tummy ache etc.  So now my dd is off from school.</p>
<p>Now my life stops as well.  I take her into the dr.s, he does a swab, yes it's confirmed.  She's now on antibiotics for the next 10 days.  She won't be able to sing in her recital with the song she's been working on since Sept.  Fustrating.</p>
<p>So in a week or so, she'll go back to school.</p>
<p>Can she get this strep throat back if she hangs out with this girl who's mom doesn't believe in antibiotics?</p>

<p>Ah, according to about.com she'll (the other girl) be contagious for around 3 weeks</p>

<p>however, good news! if you're on abx for strep, you won't be contagious after 24 hours--even though symptoms may continue and you still need to finish off the abx. so if your dd does feel up to it, she could go to school and do the signing thing without risking infecting other people.</p>

<p>Not to be bitchy, but Colodial Silver does work wonders for some illnesses. Not saying it's a cure all, 100% replacment for traditional antibiotics- however for some things it does work wonders.  Are there any other kids that have had strep besids this one?</p>

<p>Since strep tends to recur when not completely treated (know a lady who gets strep 2-4 times each year and still thinks she's doing the right thing to save the abx for the next bout) and this woman treats with colloidal silver each time, I wonder how long before her dd turns grey?</p>

<p>I could see it for things where you could actually expose the whole infection to the silver, but she's only spraying her dd's throat which means she's only getting one part of things.</p>

<p>My son gets streph all the time and usually after 24 hrs he is back to normal.  (I get it all the time too, same thing 24 hrs on abx and I feel better even though its a 10 day rx)</p>

<p>Incubation is 3 days I would be surprised since your dd is on antibiotics she would be out to long.  </p>

<p>We have been lucky only to have strep a few times.  My kids are in a risk catagory for strep.  </p>
