I have an almost eight month old LO, and we cosleep. She nurses usually 2-3 times a night when she bumps into me in the night and notices my boobs. I'm considering the idea of putting a twin mattress on the floor in my room and laying down on it with her until she's asleep and then creeping out to my bed. I have one of those mesh side-rails so she wouldn't fall out, but I'm still a little wary of an 8 month old alone in that setup. She's fairly mobile and creeps all over on her tummy, no crawling yet. I'm concerned that she would get herself wedged in the side-rail or tangled in her blanket, etc. Have any of you let a baby sleep in a twin on the floor? How old were they? How did it go? What problems did you encounter?

My main motivation for trying this is to see if she sleeps better without bumping into me. I also would like to eventually move her to her own bed, so I like the idea of a nice slow transition, over a period of months.

We moved our son to a twin mattress on the floor at around 10 months, and it was great!
