Oh boy! Lily NEEDS to be held at all times and I am getting nothing done around here or businesswise. As much as I don't want her to grow up I need to find a solution. She hates the sling.
I started at about 4-5 months- but that's because that's when I got my first ABC-type carrier. I would have been cool with her there from about 2 months (feet tucked up- froggy style) Check out the kozy site for pics of little babies on backs.
We started at 4 months. That's when he gained enough head control. I tried with the Kozy at 2 months, but it made me so nervous. I could not easily check his head position or nurse. I worried way to much for it to be comfortable.
It works great now- he really seems to enjoy being on my back.
This is just my opinion... but I think with a fabric wrap you might get away with it earlier. Something like an EllaRoo... my thought is that you have more oontrol over how tighly you can secure the head section of the fabric, I have seen wee bitties in a nice tight Tibetan.
Check these out... and there are more ideas there.
With a MeiTai, at 2 1/2 months in a Freehand (plenty of head support)
With a wrap, I did it a couple of times with A LOT of help from DH, but I am still not confident to do it by myself. I just got my Didy and will start trying again
I'm going to look around at these types of carriers because they are al new to me! I have the Ergo and a Wilkinet (which she loves on my front). I am hoping over the summer to figure out a way to get her HAPPY in a carrier so that I can sew.
