Hi All,

Dh and I would like to have gifts ready to give to our midwives when our baby is born, to thank them for their prenatal care and birth support. We don't know what we should get for them, though. Any ideas? I'd appreciate any suggestions or sharing of what you got for your midwives/obstetrician/doula/helper.

Thanks!

I gave my doulas for my second birth a Reifman squatting pregnant goddess necklace from the Attachments Catalog - I think that would be a nice gift for a midwife, too. What I actually gave my midwife was a black and white framed portrait of me holding my baby, with the focal point of the portrait being his little naked baby bottom. It was a tribute to his legacy of being the first breech birth for both my midwife and the birth center. :LOL

For my midwife I made two matching planters full of herbs and flowers. I also gifted her, as well as my doula, a certificate for an Ocean Wave waterbed massage. I also baked them some goodies.

We had a pretty crazy time together and I will be forever grateful for their encouragement and coaching.

i made placenta prints for everyone who attended elwynn's birth. they were beautiful ( if you dont know the veins on the placenta look like the tree of life)

my midwife still has her's up in the office..its been 2 1/2 years! it made me feel so good seeing it there when i went for my first prenatal appt with her for my new baby.
