My neighbor stopped over today to ask me about homeschooling. She's interested in homeschooling her daughter (4). Her concern is that her primary language is Spanish and her English isn't very good. I'm not sure why it's an issue now when it hasn't been a problem in teaching her everything else up to this point but I just now thought of that so I didn't ask her. lol!

Anyway, I had suggested she try a scripted curriculum like Abeka or Calvert. I thought that might be easiest in addition to helping her become more fluent in English. I don't know of any other scripted curriculums but I'm sure they're out there. Anyone know of any off the top of your head? Or really any other suggestions to help her out would be great!
TIA!

There are SO MANY scripted curriculums!!! Saxon Math, Shurley Grammar, Story of the World, Ordinary Parent's Guide to Teaching Reading, Phonics Pathways, Bob Jones, Abeka, Calvert, Alpha Omega, etc, etc, etc.

From my experience, pretty much everything at least has some type of script to it (obviously some more than others), but the ones I just listed are all pretty much completely scripted.

It might help too if she could visit a curriculum store and have someone that works there, and is familiar with all the different curriculum choices, show her a variety of options, make suggestions, etc.

Hope that helped!

Okay, I feel like a dolt. Does "scripted" mean something along the lines of a curriculum that spells all the steps out point blank? As in they give you all of the instruction on how to lead the student?

Scripted curriculums tell you exactly what to say...literally has a "script" to read.
They're great for things that you aren't sure how to explain.
