Some ideas....

Playground/park
Hiking in a nearby state/national park
bike riding on trails
visiting local farms to pick berries/veggies
going to coffee shop ( my dd gets hot cocoa and I get a mocha)
we live by the beach so thats a biggie for us, at least once a week.

I work part time so she is at daycare 3 days a week. She likes playing with her friends. How about joining a playgroup?

We're limited a bit by my morning sickness, but hopefully it'll go away soon. Here's some stuff we're doing:

Pool (almost every day, I have water-lovin' kids)
Hiking
Library
Parks (we try to find new ones - keeps things interesting)
Zoo
MIL's for sprinkler-in-the-yard sessions
Exploring the beach

We go to the library, science museum, and local parks (there are several). I'm working with a couple of other MDC mama's to start a local AP playgroup, too.

Sorry, this summer I am renewing my credential, painting my house, and redoing my floors. No fun things here.

IN THE PAST, we have gone hiking, to museums, swimming, to the libraries, to the beach, boating, and just hanging around the house, barbequing enjoying each other's company.

having a baby!

i wanted to take my son to see the fireworks over the lake, but can't make it.
and i don't know what this baby is planning. i have this creeping feeling that she's going to decide to come when we finally get out to Do Something, yk?

there will be music in the local parks too ~ the first one i wanted to go to is this wednesday ~ but again, not sure if we'll be able to make it.

i'll also be looking for more AP / homeschooling mamas in the area to have playgroups in the park with my son.

We do lots of outdoor concerts we go to one with a bunch of friends every Wednesday, then we either go to a cool spray park or the pool. Friday I am part of a play group and I get to do the schedule, we are doing the zoo, water park. summer kids fair, a nature center, going to a metro park on a bike parade then swimming, last Friday we had a summer party for the kids.. Tommorow me and my kids are going strawberry picking. We will do science museums, craft stores, driving to the lake and visiting friends and going camping and lots of just hanging out with our friends playing in the sprinkler or their wading pool.

Our favorite things are taking simple things and making them long, slow days like walking uptown for lunch, checking out the water fountain, going to the library, getting ice cream on the way home or going to the park bringing food for the ducks, a blanket and bubbles, playing soccer in the filed, sometimes we don't even use the playground equipment.

mamaley, last summer I was very preggo, so also had to avoid the heat. We did lots of the previously posted things. Some other heat busters -

*visit a mall, ride the carosel, have lunch, or buy a balloon to walk around with (very exciting for a preschooler!)
* outings to parks & playgrounds in the early morning before it gets too hot
* a cool bath, w/bath crayons for fun
* story hours - at libraries, book stores, nature societies
*lots of playdates in air conditioned homes
*a ride in the air conditioned car, w/a special snack & favorite kids music, just to break the day up

Stay cool!

What am I doing? Trying to keep myself out of the institution! *LOL*

Seriously, my kids are old enough and we live in a small town that they're pretty much on their own. They have the summer reading program kickoff today and then will attend every Tuesday through the end of July. My oldest DS is in Little League and has practice every Monday and Wednesday morning and games every Tuesday and Thursday night. So our week is pretty full right there. I plan on taking them to the lake once a week, if it ever warms up enough and if it dries up and we can get the warning lifted (run-offs from the fields...YUCK!)
