Broccoli Salad. I have all the fixings for it because I have a family reunion potluck tomorrow.
I'm usually good at rotating what I bring so it's not always the same thing - it depends on what I've got hiding in my pantry and what I feel like.

Oh, but signature dish... My grandma's secret recipe cookies. I'm the only one (out of the 25 family members that have the recipe) that make them taste just like Grandma's. I've even got the recipe memorized just like she did.

Broccoli Salad
4-5 cups chopped broccoli
1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
10-12 slices crisp bacon (crumbled)
1 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup raisins

Dressing:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tbsp white vinegar
3-4 tbsp white sugar

Mix dressing together, toss with rest of ingredients. Refrigerate until serving.

It's not as excitingly weird as you think...it's Ashkenazi Jewish braided egg bread that we eat on the Sabbath. You probably have something similar, as its origins were medieval German, I believe. But mine is really good. I think it's because I let my two-year-old decide how many raisins to use!

We also eat cabbage noodles--but isn't that the Polish name for them? When I was growing up in Cleveland I remember you could buy egg noodles with "halushki" on the package.

I'll bring some chips and homemade salsa, which is my signature dish. Oh, and maybe my "Classy Chicken Salad" for the poultivores:

chicken breast, poached and diced
pomegranate seeds (or dried cranberries)
pine nuts
freshly shaved (I use a vegetable peeler for big curls of cheese) parmesan

Combine these ingredients and drizzle with high-quality extra-virgin olive oil, then sprinkle with sea salt and grind some fresh pepper over it all. Yum!

Oh, I shouldn't have read this thread before dinner (mmm..blue corn bread..)

My usual dish is an artichoke heart pasta salad, artichoke hearts, a ziti or penne pasta, kalamata olives, scallions, red and yellow bell pepers, capers and some kind of balsamic vinegarette. Then fresh grated parmesean cheese on top, unless I have a request to make it vegan.

Fun thread!

In summer - couscous salad w/corn & red bell pepper (saute chopped red onion, red bell pepper, garlic & cumin; add to couscous and mix with dressing of red-wine vinegar & olive oil & a big handful of chopped cilantro). Sometimes a big bowl of cherry tomatoes from the garden if it's the right time. Or butterscotch chip oatmeal cookies. Depends on how well-prepared I am. :LOL

In winter - salmon chowder. Or cookies. See above. ;-)
