Sorry if this has already been asked, but I need some ideas! My mom is pretty great, so I want to come up with something fabulous for her. :

I have no idea, but thanks for posting this. Life has been so crazy for the last two months that I actually forgot Mother's Day was coming up fast.

Last year, I took her up Grouse Mountain, which is a local tourist spot, and treated her to a nice lunch at the top of the mountain. The view was incredible.

Well, Alivia calls my mom RaRa, so I found someone online who would personalize T-shirts. (She's actually on another board I go to, and she was FABULOUS to work with!)

http://www.cafepress.com/insanitycafe.122810195

I'm baking her cookies that I make that she loves (oatmeal chocolate chip - all organic) and framing a picture of DD (haven't picked one yet - maybe I'll do me and DD, her and DD, or my grandmother, my mother, and, DD). I'm shipping it all to her as we aren't going home for Mother's Day this year.

When is mother's day this year?? It's not on my calendar!

I won't be doing anything for my mother. I don't even know where she lives anymore. I'd like to do something wonderful for my step-momma, though.

I'm an avid scrap booker, so most of my gifts involve some kind of photo arrangment.

My mom lives in Canada, so it's been really hard on her having her first and only grandchild live so far away. Last time she was here we had proffessional 3 generation photos taken, so I'm making a shadow box with that photo, along with a few other momentos of when she was down here, and some things that were relevent of DD's age at the time of her visit. She came down for DD's 1st birthday, so I'm including things like the noise maker from her party, and some smaller pictures of my mom and her on birthday.

She is also a siamese cat fancier, and just lost one of her beloved furbabies to FIP, and I always collect cat things for her through out the year when she's not here, so I'm making her an Izzy (the name of her cat) memorial with the "Rainbow Bridge" poem. She's a mother to more then just us human babies. She LOVES her cats.

I won't be able to be with my mother-she's far, far away,sadly-but I am making up a basket for her. So far I've put some Tocca candles, an electronic Suduko thingie (she loves them,) a couple of books, gourmet teas, and a t-shirt that says "mother superior" in it. I'd like to do more, but she lives on a boat on an island that doesn't even have reliable mail service, much less spas or florists.

If I can get it together I'm making her some socks. I need to find a pattern though.

I'm actually trying to decide, since I wrote the book, if I should give her something else, too. Any suggestions? :

Congratulations on being published!!! I'm sure your mom will love it - maybe enclose a heartfelt letter about how her love and support has helped you achieve such a wonderful accomplishment.

Personally, my mom is getting a sculpture for her garden. She worked really hard on it last year and I think it will be a nice addition.

I wnat to get my mam one of those really super plush bathrobes, but I need to find one that isn't terribly expensive. I would think now would be the time, since they're sort of out of season.

I'm makign a small scrapbook for my mom filled with pictures from the last year. Its a tradition I started a few years ago. It's nice to know what to do for her every year, but hard to keep up with, yk? I'll probably give her a little money so she can buy some flowers for her hard, too.

I have no idea what I"m giving my mama. I've been married for 3 years, and her wish the entire time has been for us to get back on our feet financially. So, for the past 3 years, I've been giving her almost nothing, and sending all our money to repay debt. This year, we're actually on our way to financial independence, and she's thrilled.

We're still going to give her something small, because that's what she wants, but I don't know what it will be. Really, I'm thinking of some kind of cute picture frame with my kids' pictures in it (or maybe me and the kids) for her to put up in her classroom. She teaches second grade and loves to have pictures of her kids in her room.

Great idea! I can afford to bake her something in addition to making her a card.

Congrats on getting published! My Mom's given her books as gifts, without anything else along with it. But then I'm not sure what your budget for mother's day gifts is usually like- it may not be enough if the book costs you $15 (is that about right if it retails for $25?) and you usually spend $50 on her gift.

My mom will probably be getting the second season of the West Wing. She loved that show and watches the first season (which we gave her for Christmas) often.

My husband wants to get my MIL a fire proof safe box. It's his mom, so she'll get that. I personally wouldn't have picked that but whatever.
