Just curious what everyone is craving these days? I would have to say mine is ice cream. I need to have an ice cream every night. I surprised at 17 weeks I've only gained 5 pounds.

What are your cravings?

Dairy, but for me it's cream cheese and sour cream. I had two bites of sour cream PLAIN last night.

Simple carbs plus dairy = dream but I try to save that for special occasions. I'm on the only supposed to gain 10-15 the whole time so I'm trying to be mindful.

And pretty much anything I hear about... I want to have at some point. We went to the movies last week and ever since I've been wanting popcorn.

Me too! Except for fast food. The few times I've given in to that craving I have felt GROSS after, so when I hear about it now, I feel gross all over again. The only unusual thing I've wanted consistently that I don't normally eat, is Dill Pickle Pringles. Other than that, now that the first trimester nausea is gone, my food intake is pretty comparable to what it was pre-pregnancy, and I haven't gained more than 1-2 lbs max of new weight (I lost a bit 1st trimester and have gained that back). It'll come...I'm sure....

I'm mostly craving healthy stuff right now. I hope it lasts, but I know it probably won't. It's like I can't get enough fresh veggies. The few times I've had fast food lately it hasn't tasted good to me at all.

Huge amounts of dairy. Yoghurt, sour cream (veggies & dip, with pirogies, with eggs/salsa/avocado) high protein cereal with milk, cottage cheese with fruit or on its own. Even tapioca pudding seems like a good idea, but it's far out of my sugar range. I've also taken to chopping up dill pickles and covering them with sweet/hot mustard as a snack.

Me too! I am soooo glad after all the disgusting fast food I wanted when I was nauseated. I am really loving salads especially with vinegarry type dressings. I also want pineapples. And icecream. Pretty much all things cold and uncooked.

This is me!!! I cut up a pineapple the other day and almost ate the entire thing. I couldn't get enough. Melons, apples, berries, grapes, and veggies w/ hummus. Yum.

Melons, fish and chips, tuna sandwiches. My mom craved fish when she was pregnant, too.

When I had morning sickness, all I could eat was vanilla pudding and fruit cocktail.

I've been craving fresh pineapple like CRAZY, but I'm paranoid to eat it because I've read that it can cause contractions. Can someone refute that convincingly so that I can eat some? The problem is that I would have a hard time just eating a little bit. Nothing sounds more delicious to me right now...

from what i've read you'd have to eat at least 2 including the cores to do anything and even then it's really unlikely to cause contractions especially this early pineapple is just meant to help ripen your cervix

I had lots of dole not from concentrate pineapple juice in my first trimester with not a single cramp. That stuff is the bomb.

However my friend was surprised to see me slurping it down. Combined with the sugar factor, I switched to a currant and pomegranate juice to mix with my seltzer (mama cocktails - YUM!)

I'm also loving salads with vingegar-y dressings!

I have never had cravings like some gals do. With my first two pregnancies the only thing I craved was raw parsley as bizarre as that sounds. With this pregnancy I have craved a bit of spicy foods- was loving some wasabi peas earlier today. DH wishes I would crave something fattening but I've never even had a desire for something late night. I was hoping to experience that once. There's still time :)

Parsley is super high in iron, so I could totally see that as a craving.

Yumm... I can totally go for some authentic tabbouleh righ now. The one from the store is mostly the bulghur wheat and very little parsley but there is a Middle Eastern restaurant about 20 mins from me and they have the BEST tabbouleh which is just tons of parsley and lemon juice. :)

It's really not hard to make if you have a winter source for cheap parsley! I put cucumber in mine in addition to tomatoes and onions too. A lot of larger grocery stores now carry bulgar wheat as well.

Here's my Mom's recipe, it makes a ton though so beware:

1c bulgar soaked in 1 cup warm water (about 2 hours, or until the water is gone)

2 bunches green onion

2 bunches parsley

2 cups mint leaves

1 bell pepper

1-2 cloves of garlic

2-3 tsp salt

1/4 c olive oil

1/2 c lemon juice (2 lemons)

2-3 fresh tomatoes

1 cucumber

pepper to taste

Dice or mince all the herbs and veggies and combine with the bulgar. Mix the lemon juice, oil, s&p and toss with the salad. Let chill several hours, and re-salt to taste. Tastes like summer!

I've been craving beef, dairy, and cooked tomatoes. Chickens could go extinct right now and I wouldn't care! Oh, and pickles. I eat a ton of pickles, or anything with vinegar. In the beginning I couldn't eat anything greasy, but now I feel better and can eat some fries or a burger once in a while.
