we're moving to the Decatur area next month and neither of our banks have location out there. we're being charged $4.50 every time DH uses an ATM out there and i guess stores don't do cash back. i'd prefer a credit union but i'm not sure what's available. what do you use and do you like their customer service?

I'll second Thorn that most store do cash back. As far as I know all major grocery stores, drug stores, Target do cash back.
I know I see credit unions all around, but I can't think of the names of any of them right now!

Lockheed, Atlanta Postal, Pinnacle, Atlanta, Ga. Federal, Associated all have credit unions in Atlanta.

I have an account with the Atlanta Postal Credit Union however I don't think you can be a member unless you are employed or have family who is/has been employed but the post office. Same thing with Lockheed; I believe. Or if you are a member of Cobb E.M.C. you can open an account at Lockheed. Can't attest to the others.

I have also been a customer at Bank of America for 12 years with no problems.

We use BoA. Itis fine, I have no complaints (or raves, LOL). I do like that there are a ton of locations, and I do like their online bill pay

Is he staying in a hotel? When I used to travel, the hotel woudl always cash checks for me, no problem. I have not tried or asked at a grocery store in decades

actually, anyone can be a member of any credit union nowadays-the feds loosened that requirement several years back. If a credit union isn't open to anyone being a member, there are many more that are open to everyone.
