DS is 14 months and started to get a runny nose and watery eyes once everything started blooming here in Texas. No fever, no coughing, nothing but the runny nose.

I've tried hyland's sneezes and sniffles tablets, I upped his probiotics and SA but I don't think that's really going to do anything since it's allergy related. I tried 1/4 a tsp of benedryl last night but that didn't do anything, seemed like it made it worse if anything.

I've been using eucalyptus oil on his chest to see if that would help break all the gunk in his sinuses up. I've been using a nasal aspirator as well.

He's not really stuffy except when he first wakes up...then just runny off and on all day.

Is there anything else I can do? It's been about 8 or 9 days now.

I've been having similiar issues with my dd and I saw a nurse pract. today who seems to think our issue is with a food allergy from what i described. i never thought a food allergy could be the cause of a runny nose but she had a lot of good info for me. it was a lot to take in all in one sitting especially since i'm not well versed in allergies. one thing we're going to start doing is a nasal flush. i'm not looking forward to it but if it might help, i'm going to give it a shot.

I would say see if it is food too. We are in Louisiana, and alot of people here decrease their dairy intake during the bad allergy season. Also, if it is just allergies, the runny nose could be a good thing, its flushing all the bad stuff out....

Would she let you do saline? Prob. not, but worth a try.

this is what i don't understand about allergies when it comes to food vs. what's in the air...

how are they related? i imagine everything is related but i'm new to this and trying to understand it better. i got the bottle to do the nasal flush but haven't made the homemade saline solution yet. all i have is low sodium salt and i'm not sure if that's okay or if i need to use regular table salt. i am going to start trying to do the nasal flushes though. i think i will show my son too how to do it in the bath tub. one thing at a time though : )
