Hi, I am just wondering what I can expect to pay for hiring a birth doula. I am now a single mom and money is real tight, but this is something I will find the money for because I really want to VBAC . Thanks so much everyone.
In Utah, fees are from $200-500, but we have a low cost of living in general...I've heard it's more in big cities (NYC, LA, SanFrancisco)..any New York doulas know what's average there?
The fees are the same around here. I paid 500 for mine in 2002. I was on a volunteer list for awhile, so maybe you could check to see if you have one in your area.
Hi my friend had a doula who was in training.
The doula had to get so many hours of actual doulaing (that can't be a word) to fulfill her training. I think my friend paid $100.
She said she was wonderful. You might want to call a birthing center and find out if anyone would be available
Hope it helps
Experienced doulas usually go for about $400 in our area, but I would check around and see if there are any student doulas needing the experience more than the money.
If I was looking for a student doula, I would probably go to Dona's website, find the local teachers in the listing pages, and email/call them to recommend recent students. I know my instructor would do that for me.
