My ds started rolling a couple of weeks ago and is becoming quite proficient at it. We have a fairly large blanket I spread out on the floor with a couple of toys strategically scattered, but more often than not he wriggles and rolls his way onto the carpet...So, now my clean carpet doesn't seem quite clean enough, however, I don't want to douse it with chemicals in order to accomplish this.

How do you clean your carpet aside from vaccuuming?

I had a professional steam cleaner come in. It was pricey but worth it. We don't wear shoes in the house and I vacuum every morning. He said we could get away with every six months in our main living area. And once a year in the bedroom and office.

Have you tried any Melaleuca products? They have a clean-all/degreaser called Sol-U-Mel and it works wonders - ALL OVER the house... gets out carpet spots like they were never there and removes smells. We're potty training, so I just put a little in with my detergent and the smell comes right out. It's an amazing product! =)

Good luck!

I actually bought this:
http://tinyurl.com/yo9hv4

I LOVE it. The free shipping and sample cleaner makes it absolutely pay for for itself in half a use and I, personally, think it does a better job then the professionals.

I've had the dry carpet cleaning and the regular steam cleaning done over the years and the hoover rocks my world. I don't even pay for the pricey cleaning solution, I just use a 50% simple green/ 50% water solution or plain hot water with one kettle of boiling water. (I always add one kettle of boiling water to each batch). The other great thing is that the carpets are practically dry as soon as Im finished! My carpets looked brand new in the high traffic areas like the stairs and walkways.

I actually use regular white vinegar to clean my carpets. Just put it in the carpet cleaner in the soap compartment and then use warm water with it. Works great! If there is a specific spot i'm concerned about i'll use biokleen antibac or all purpose cleaner. Just a few squirts and rub it a little bit.

We've sprayed the carpet stains with it and then just used steam (HOT water in the machine) to do the rest - Works Wonders! We've noticed that if we always use "cleaner" (soap, detergent, whatever you want to call it), if, for some reason it doesn't come up all the way, those soapy spots retain and collect dirt more easily than if we just use the boiling water. It seems to work for us...
Good luck! =)
