I tried to post this as a new thread but for some reason when I try to put a title nothing shows up so it won't let me post it. If anyone wants to cut and paste it to a new thread, go for it. Something is wrong on my end. Anyhoo, here it is. It's my question of the week that's been bugging me.

What exactly do ya'll think causes pregnancy symptoms? Is it the presence of HCG or something else. Just curious. A friend of mine told me the other day that if you have symptoms then hcg is present so a test would be positive. That officially made me feel crazy. Gee thanks, oh friend of mine

Any thoughts?
I thought it was the progesterone, honestly. I've heard that women on progesterone supplements often have pregnancy symptoms. Can check on that though.

At ovulation estrogen drops and progesterone picks up. The corpus luteum is the "cyst" that appears on the ovary after the egg comes out, and that's what produces the progesterone, thus mimicing pregnancy symptoms AF symptoms. Hope this helps!!!

I agree, I'm pretty sure it's progesterone. Because women get a rise in progesterone in the 2ww (whether pregnant or not), it is possible to feel some of the typical symptoms and not actually be pregnant. This happens to me all the time. I think if you are continuing to feel pregnancy symptoms as you approach AF, then that is a good sign, because if you weren't pregnant your progesterone levels would be starting to lower, not continuing to give symptoms. That's my theory anyway!

Also, I tried to start a thread yesterday and couldn't for the same reason. I thought it was my keyboard or something I did. So I'm glad to hear it wasn't me

I was on Progesterone (200 mg) last cycle and felt really pregnant, moreso than ever before as I think we all tend to feel a bit preg. when TTC. This was markedly different.

Thanks Stevi for posting for me Progesterone sounds better. That would explain some people getting symptoms so early. Makes me feel tons better but I woke up crampy this morning so I think I'm out anyway, but thanks for the replies

PookieMom... You're welcome.

I get nightmares and sore breasts whenever I use Progesterone Cream, so, I vote Progesterone as well.
