I only have one ds and if he was a dd he was going to be Evelynn (Evie) Brennann and the back up first name for a boy was Conner, but in the end he was named David Louis (Davey).

How about you all?

I wanted to name my son Ignatius, but my husband and extended family freaked out about the idea. "IGGY?!! IGGY??!! Have you totally lost your mind?"

And I wanted to name my daughter Odessa. Ditto for horrified audience reaction.

If I ever have another kid, I'm going to zip the lip and just tell the midwife my final decision.

We almost named our daughter Chloe. DH loved the name but I didn't.
A few days before her birth, we agreed on a name for DD that we both liked and I have to say DD "looks" more like her current name than a Chloe. I know that doesn't make sense but it makes sense to me.

We also nearly named her Jasmine. I still like the name. If I have another daughter I might name her Jasmine.

There was never any question about DD's first name, so it is what is was going to be. If she had been a (same sex) twin, her sister would have been Moira Kaelie. A boy would have been Sean Kenneth. We had such a hard time agreeing on one boy's name that we never came up with another- and now I'm not sure I like that one.

Before I was married, I knew that i liked the names Samuel and Benjamin for boys, or Abigail and Emily for girls.

My first child is Samuel James. It was decided when we found out he was a boy.

My second child is Abigail Jean. We also decided on her name when we found out her gender.

My next children will be Benjamin Isaiah and Emily (something) if we have a boy and a girl.

We've never changed our minds on names.

If dd would have been a boy, the name we picked out was Tristan Douglas. My dh wanted to name a girl Sonora or Soshi, but spelled Xochitl or someting like that. He's a little nuts!

I loved the name Abigail for dd but then I found out that it was very popular so we chose something else. It turned out that was a good thing... She was a very fussy baby and I'm sure would have ended up nicknamed "Crabby Abby"

If he had been a girl, he would have been MaryVance.

I still like MaryVance, but now dh is wavering. I bet our first girl ends up with MargaretAnn (to be called Megan).

We had thought that ds would be Finnegan, but when we saw his picture we knew that was wrong.: Kai hadn't even been a name we had discussed, but al of a sudden, that was the name we loved.

Grace's full name is Rowan Grace, which I LOVE, but she is NOT a Rowan. That is the thing about having to have the names picked out weeks before you even meet the kids. It gives you very little room for maneuvering. Fortunately, Grace suits her perfectly.

Our baby-to-be from Ethiopia will almost definately be Isaiah James. I love that name.:

If our dd was a ds, he would have been named Blair William. Blair was a very close relative to DH. After dd was born everyone said how happy they were that she was a girl because secretly they all hated the name Blair.:

My first was either going to be her name or Abrielle.

My second was either going to be Allison or Zoe but my husband's friend was having a baby near the same time and told us they were naming their daughter Zoe before we did so we didn't feel it was right to name ours Zoe, too. I eventually decided against Allison because I hated how my husband's family said it. Had she been a boy, she would have been Felix.

I thought of a few names for ds:
Sam
Sage
Damon
Malachy
Tanner
Oliver
Gage

The first two didn't go well with my last name.
The third name didn't feel right...even though I liked the name.
The fourth name scared people.
The fifth name came to me but it was too popular.
The sixth one was cute...but I didn't want anyone calling him Olly.
The last one I REALLY wanted...until a couple of my friends said it reminded them of a porn star. That made me so sad.

Ds would have been Matthew or Daniel, but dh really loved Jacob. It totally fits him. I really really wanted to name him Oliver, but it rhymed too much with our last name, it sounded like a cartoon character.

I really wanted dd to be Nicolle, but was scared people would call her Nikki. ~~shudder~~ So she is Amanda instead, it fits her well.

My brother wanted to name his daughter (had she been a son) Blaze but my mother convinced him not to, using the porn star reason. I'm a little curious why some people think personalities, ambition and success come from names.

If ds was a girl he would have been Caroline Louise. For a short while we had settled on Amelia Catherine or Matthew but we changed our minds. I really don't like the nickname Matt and decided I just couldn't live with it. Not to mention we wanted to give him my dh's first name as a mn and it's Mark so he would have been Matthew Mark which are the first two books of the New Testament in order so that was a little weird.

Our son was destined to be Jack from the start, we both love that name. We actually didn't consider anything other than what we named him. Except the girl name we'd picked. Bethany Renee.

Our daughter had a couple other options. She is Samantha Katherine.

She could have been Samantha Elise, Samantha Lynn, or Bridgette Lynn.

If dh didn't think it was too hippie, dd would have been Willow. I love that name.

If she had been a boy, I wanted to use the name Atticus, but dh thought is might be too weird. I think I might have been able to convince him though. We never really did come to a final decision on a boy name come to think of it. Good thing we had a girl.
