I thinking about my honeymoon and with Valentines Day and all I guess I'm feeling a little sentimental. So I thought maybe we could share our honeymoon stories . (And maybe get vacation ideas too).

We drove to Quebec City for ours. It was fabulous! They speak French so it was like going abroad without getting on a plane. Here goes:

Our first night kinda stunk because someone gave us a night at a hotel for a gift and it was just a non-descript hotel room. Not the candlelit canopy bed I had always pictured for my wedding night . But...

The next day we drove to All Tucked Inn (www.alltuckedinn.com) on Lake Champlain in NY. We stopped at a winery on the way too. The B&B was darling. Highly recommended for a weekend away.

The day after we got to Quebec City. Its like another world really... cobblestone streets and horsedrawn carriages with the big castle hotel in the middle. Our B&B was very sweet. La Marquise de Bassano... it even sounds romantic right www.marquisedebassano.com The innkeepers were really nice and breakfast was homemade croissants, jam, and french fruit communal style around a big table. Oh my gosh all we did in Quebec was eat! There was one day that we had crepes 3 times! For breakfast, lunch, and dessert. We went to the same creperie over and over again during our stay. This was our favorite restaurant (and still is) www.saint-amour.com/en/index.html My mouth is watering just thinking about it. It was definitely a honeymoon splurge since dinner was over $200 (Canadian, but still). We'll go back eventually I'm sure

On the way home we drove through Vermont and stopped at Ben&Jerry's. We stayed at a quaint little ski resort (in August).

I'll scan and add some pics later. But I'd love to hear stories from the other mamas out there

Wow, your honeymoon TOTALLY makes mine look boring. We went to Atlanta. We went to a Porno for Pyros concert, hung out in little 5 points, met up with some of dh old friends, shopping, lots of under the sheets time, and put a dent in the ganga supply of Atl. I was pretty young, and pretty stupid, too. Just turned 19

When I married my ex, we went camping for a couple of weeks, and had a wonderful time.

Unfortunately, when I married dh, we had no money and no car - and we already had ds1 from my first marriage. We didn't have a honeymoon. We also didn't have a fancy wedding. OTOH, we have an amazing marriage. Sometimes, I wish I had some romantic honeymoon memories, but overall, I'm happy with what I've got.

We were going to do something like a weekend away for our fifth anniversary...but that's this September, and we've most likely got a baby arriving in October. I guess we'll do it for our tenth, instead.

We spent a week on the Outer Banks. We got married the weekend before 4th of July, so we weren't in an ocean front room or anything spectacular, and in fact, on the obx, most of the rooms are kind of campy retro. The towels didn't match, the beds were lumpy. But, it was a fabulous week!

We had a picnic on the beach the night of July 4th, and we sat and watched the fireworks over the ocean. We ate out every night, and we made sandwiches for lunch every day in our little room. We spent lots of time in the waves (and under the sheets). We discovered Utz chips. We went to Ocracoke Island for the day and to Jockey's Ridge state park (with these huge sand dunes). We took lots and lots of pictures.

It was awesome.

We stayed at a beautiful mission retreat center in the mountains of Ethiopia. Our little cottage overlooked the lake and it was just gorgeous.

We didn't do a whole lot. Wandered around, enjoyed the lake, enjoyed the fellowship of others at the retreat, and concieved our first kiddo.

We got married on May 24th 1997. It was memorial day weekend. Since we had people coming in from out of town etc, we waited to go on our honeymoon until that Friday. We went to Paris and St Tropez. Bob always wanted to honeymoon in Paris and it was wondeful! We loved France and love to travel so it was great. On our 5th anniversary, our dd1 Liz was born and last year on our 9th anniversary, a few days earlier we brought home our preemie MAggie. So this year for 10 years, I am still not sure what we will be doing.

DH is a romantic so Paris seemed to fit the bill.

We went to Disneyworld (where we got engaged) for a few days. My best friend was getting married 8 days after us, so we picked someplace fairly nearby so we could get home and be in the wedding.

My exact anniversary! very cool. It snowed on mother's day the weekend before my wedding in western new york.

For our honeymoon we drove from Bergen New York all the way to New Mexico and then drove north east back to New York. It was a beautiful trip. It took almost 2 weeks.

We visited several national parks (Grand Canyon, Petrified forest, Mesa verde) and visited so many gorgeous places to type. We would love to go back to New Mexico. Probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.

We will not be going anywhere with out the kiddos. I would love to go to Quebec. A place I have always wanted to visit. The other place I would love to visit is Prince Edward Island.

Lovely memories. It will be ten years this May. Man! time flies.

DH and I celebrate our 5th anniversary tomorrow!

We were in the process of booking our honeymoon, when 9/11 happened. : We really, really wanted to spend a week out West, and visit parts of the Grand Canyon, maybe Vegas (DH wanted to take me to that Star Trek thing ) However, we had no idea what traveling would be like in the months after 9/11, and we were not willing to be someplace away from my DS1 and my family that would require flying.

So, we ended up at the Poconos. It is a 5 hour drive from MA. There were many things to do there in the snow, but that year, there was no snow for the first time in decades. : We loved being together for a honeymoon, alone and the like, but it was not the adventure we were hoping for.

Someday, DH and I will take a trip, have some crazy times alone
Maybe for our 10th anniversary

ETA...our wedding, now that was awesome!!!!!

We took a 10-day car trip up the coast of CA from LA (where we live) almost to the Oregon border and back down the middle of the state. We stayed with various friends for a couple of nights here and there, and stayed in cute inns or cabins in other places. Went to lots of wineries (brought home 17 bottles of wine!!), shopped in little towns, toured Hearst Castle, walked on the gravel beach at Patrick's Point (our destination), etc. It was really the best vacation ever, I didn't even mind the driving too much. We were married in early Nov and it rained on and off the whole time, but it's our favorite time of year so it was just perfect.

We didn't have a honeymoon, we were married at the courthouse on a Wednesday and both had to be back to work the next day.

We are planning on a big get-away for our 10th anniversary next year, maybe Hawaii, Fiji, Ireland, London. I want to go somewhere neither of us have been.

DH and I went to Hawaii for a week - Ohau and Maui. Oahu was a great place to start, and then we spent Maui driving around exploring the island. It was beautiful! We both wished we had more time, but I was running Summer School and it started right after we got back

We both want to go back, but we also have billions of other places we want to go too, and no $

Very funny. Yes, Ralph's is still going strong. I didn't live in Bergen in '94. I was in Rochester. But I believe my dh lived here briefly in 93' or '94 prior to us getting together. My in-laws have lived here for over 30 years. DH spent part of his childhood in Bergen. Dublin road is where they all grew up.

We went two places. Disney World first, for four days. Fun, but hectic with lots of people. Then we went to the British Virgin Islands for 4 days to a remote resort It was AWESOME...very few people, beautiful scenery, gourmet meals. We went hiking, snorkling, dancing, and had plenty of "alone" time. It was wonderful We plan to go back one day when our children are old enough to stay with family at home--or when we have enough money to bring someone with us to watch them some.

We just married at the JOTP and went on with our daily lives. We spent 14 days in Europe. The first 4 were in Paris, then 6 in Ireland and 4 in London. It was a lot of fun and a great way to start our marriage. Paris is magical and I think everyone should go there with a lover.
