I had all three of my kids in the hospital, so naturally I had one of those awesome gowns, lol. I'm planning a home birth this time around, and just got thinking "what am I going to wear?" No waterbirth here, as we live in a 2nd floor apartment and I don't quite trust the floor to be strong enough to support a pool, soooo..... If you birthed "on land", what did you wear?

I birthed on the stool/standing up. I was in the shower for a long time and in and out until the MW kicked me out of it (I started getting dizzy). At that point in time I was in a thick robe when I would hop in and out of the shower. When finally kicked out I had a thin robe, then I finally gave up and was in pain so I was naked.<br><br>

I went inbetween a robe and nude for all 4 of my births. I'd labor in the shower or bath, get out put the robe on. Sometimes get back in. I'd usually find I wanted to strip down when it came time to push (which was on land).

I had a midwife assisted hospital birth last time, and the second I got into the room, I tore off every stitch of clothing and birthed naked.<br><br>
Granted, I was only there for 45 minutes before DD made her appearance, so if I had more warning, I may have wanted to actually wear something <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

I wore regular clothes, and I had a wterbirth, so I was naked at the end, as usual.

First 2 were hospital births, so I modeled their beautiful gowns! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"> The 3rd was a midwife assisted hospital birth and I started out in a beautiful gown I brought from home, but by transition I was nakie! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin"> This time we are planning a homebirth. I bought an adorable spaghetti strap cotton gown on clearance at Christmas to wear early on. However I plan to utilize our jacuzzi as well as the shower, so I will be nakie again, my preference anyway...

in my yoga pants and a preggo top until i got to the birth center, promptly stripped (I was 9 cm) got in the tub and had DD. Didn't care one bit that I was nakey.

I absolutely cannot stand my boobs touching my stomach in late pg. lol!! I wore this nifty sports bra that I found at Target (I think) It zippers up the front so I could have quick nursing access afterwards. I wore some yoga pants in early labor with that bra and a t-shirt. Then when I got in the tub I kept the bra and had no bottoms. The bottoms stayed off after that - I got out and birthed on land (I was too hot and couldn't stand it anymore).

With my DS at home I wore a sports bra on the top and nothing else. For my DS2 it was a waterbirth and I was naked. I start out with clothes on usually but then by the end they all come off because I'm so hot and I want to be totally unhendered. I think the first time I only left the sports bra on because I wasn't totally comfortable with everyone who attended the birth... shouldn't have invited so many people! Both of the last two times I've come to a point where I've literally thrown my panties across the room! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> lol!

I had a waterbirth, but labored on land until the last hour (in a 72 hour labor, that's a LOT on land). I wore one of DHs shirts and pajama bottoms. Until that got uncomfortable, then I just wore the shirt (and stripped to naked for the waterbirth!).

With my winter babies, I wore big/long tshirts with stretchy pants under my belly (well, at least until the pants needed to come off). With my summer baby I wore a maternity tank top pulled up over my belly and mat shorts pushed down below it. Anything touching my abdomen was incredibly uncomfortable.

mine were hosp births, but I just wore a big ole t shirt. I prob will this time again (my midwife lives 2 hours away, so she'll becoming at the onset of labor, just to make sure she's here for the grand finale)

The first one I had on a nursing nightgown. The second one I also had on a nursing nightgown until I got in the tub. Then I just had on my Bravado bra. I actually wanted more clothes on when I got out, but I was way too far into labor to expend energy putting on clothes, so I birthed in just the Bravado.

this time I am doing a water birth, but still plan to wear a maternity tank (witha built in bra) and go pant less.<br>
I dont like my boobies hanging out. I dont know why.. but when I am pregnant and they are huge.. I get all uncomforatble because they get in teh way <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">
